Van wat ik begreep: Het lukte hem niet om voor de club te spelen en voor het nationale team te spelen op fysiek vlak en raakte daarmee meer dan alleen zijn gevoetbal. Hij wilde toch op niveau blijven voetballen dus koos hij voor clubvoetbal bij PSV want zonder clubvoetbal kan je bijna niet bij de selectie komen voor ons elftal.

The interesting thing about Luuk de Jong is that his last season, age 33, has been his all time best. How many players, especially strikers, can say so? He scored a total of 38 goals (all leagues), more than any of his previous seasons in the Dutch Eredivisie. On top of that he delivered 15 assists, way more than his PSV average of 4 assits per season. Last season's Eredivisie MVP, no one even came close.
