Scenario is just the quintessential hip-hop track. It’s a bouncy, high-energy beat, and incredibly clever lyrics and wordplay. A classic.

Conscious hip hop was about to bloom and transcend then record companies saw the alternative influence as a threat against the status quo then gangster rap was pushed to the scene then conscious hip hop was swept away from the mainstream although other entities who maintain the greatness of 90s hip hop did a indeed remarkable job to make the 90s the greatest decade of hip hop.

I wonder how culture would have changed if conscience rap like tribe, de la soul, common people and groups like that became what NWA, tupac and biggie were for gangster rap. No doubt alot of young men and women in hip hop wouldn't have played stupid games with gangs and drugs and would still be alive. No doubt all 3 gangster rappers made amazing albums but most hip-hop heads love tupac and biggies softer stuff just as much as "kick in the door" and "hit em up"

Nah they saw it was making money and when conscious was selling they pushed it when gangster rap sold they pushed it
@lucasm3879 Жыл бұрын
@@NEONOIRERA Pretty much. We love music - but remember it's called the MUSIC BUSINESS. It's about making money for the record companies (especially in the pre internet days when it was all about sales) - you don't sell anymore, you get dropped, or at least not promoted. There's no conspiracy with gangsta rap's emergence in the early 90's. It started in the 80's with Ice T and Schooly D, then NWA, Kool G Rap, Geto Boys... then the West Coast started kicking in with the gangbanger references - Cypress Hill, Ice Cube, The Chronic, Snoop - it sold, big time. At the same time, East Coast gansta emerged with Mobb Deep, Wu Tang, Onyx, Big... the lyrics were heavily influenced by the guns and crack dealing explosion of the 80's. I'm not saying that's a good thing, it just happened. It reflected street life. The prevailing conscious hip hop of the late 80's and early 90's turned out to be a short period. It was a great time, but once gangsta rap exploded, it took over. People loved it like they loved Tarantino movies. It was violent, but cool.
