If you asked me what my favorite song or album, I don't have one I've followed this group since they dropped I was already following Jungle Brothers and De la Soul. So after following them for over thirty years and still having their music in heavy rotation, I believe that "We got it from here ... Thank you for your service"was their magnum opus. The symmetry with Phife passing and all the political bullying that was transpiring at the time of the release made it the album we needed in rap.. 2016 was a rough year lost 3 heroes my mom, Prince and Phife Dawg. That being said I think "Thank You" was their absolute best because they took rap back to its roots where we addressed and brought awareness to the horrible ways of the world.

I understand what Dave ("Trugoy") RIH meant wit' Native Tongues really has "no order" or hiearchy...TRUE...but it does stem off of the Jungle Brothers and Kool DJ Red Alert which now goes back to the Jazzy 5, and Soul Sonic Force...then, Zulu Nation!!! That Soul Sonic Force/Jazzy 5 connection was too close...you got Jazzy Jay rock'n wit' both...probably an emcee or two (I forgot)! Bam, of course! So, that "Native Tongue" thang was more serious [even if it was for the fans, if nothin' else] than maybe what they took it as! Jungle Brothers is the fathers...they already in cohoosts with Ultra Magnetic/BDP, etc.! Q-Tip is like Jungle Brother #4 ("Black Is Black", "Promo No. 1", and the classic "Promo No. 2"). Then, De La Soul on the same or similar vibe...stem'n from DJ Prince Paul 'n that Stetson Brothers (later, "StetsaSonic") vibe!!! Then, Latifah, through the DJ Mark, the 45 King (who is originally a Bronx native) out in my neck of the woods in North Central Jersey -- the Flava Unit Squad out in Essex County (Newark/East Orange/Irvington/Jersey City is in Hudson County)...Black Sheep, Chi Ali, Money Love, even Leaders of the New School (who started wit' PE's Bomb Squad camp)...spawned heads like Kayne West, J Dilla, Dee-Lite, Consequence, Mos Def, Lucy Pearl, etc.
