There are just certain VTubers that nobody just seems to hate. And in here, we look into that reason.

Plenty of individual managers reportedly kinda suck (mika's didn't even watch her stream apparently) and whatever intern they have at the social media station should be fired considering how many important announcements (pomu's graduation, kyo's graduation, that big concert a while ago) were scuffed.

They have the audacity to pretty much go "You're not quitting because you're fired!". Its hilarious because the fact they fired her when she wanted to leave amicably just shows that they are malicious. Everything they did was absolute evil. Posting it on Twitter before even notifying Selen, writing the termination reasons in a way made to demonize her, even lying about the payment of creators for her projects. All of it was unnecessary and they just wanted to do it for their own gain and for her loss. The best thing is that it backfired and did the exact opposite.

That pretty much sums up what makes Selen special. Behind her “toxic dragon” schtick is someone incredibly passionate and giving, far more than anyone ever asks or expects of her. She projects arrogance for a bit of streaming spice but she’s humble at her core and immensely grateful for everything given to her. I’m forever stuck as a Corn Man now on YT because I can’t ever imagine changing this profile pic she drew for me in a members stream. That’s also what makes her current situation all the more heartbreaking though. Imagine dumping copious amounts of your time and money to give 200% to your fans only for your company, who you’d _think_ would be proud and supportive, promptly punishes you for it again and again. I can’t bring myself to join the crowd of people who actively _want_ her to quit believing it’s for her best, but I really hope she’s treated better and somehow remains as Selen no matter which path she takes. She’s worked so hard to build up her brand image and I’d hate to see it fall apart over this.

Honestly for the same reasons too, he is just generally positive and accepting towards everyone and really involved with his community and his fellow content creators, always hyping everyone up from the smallest indies to the biggest corpo vtubers. It's funny how a random normie flesh streamer became a pillar of the vtuber community but his openmindedness and the way he is genuinely happy for other people's accomplishments is rare on twitch.

Fuwamoco are not only hardworking, but are extremely good at audience interaction! They have this amazing balance of doing what they want AND doing what their fans want. What sold me on this was the fact that they took a one off superchat which they didn't really understand (comparing their Rock and Rawr Party to a Kendrick Lamar concert), and worked behind the scenes to learn Silemt Hill (and censor it enough for themselves) so they could keep that joke moving! To me, that's some next level crowd sourcing for content!

They’ve also been through tough times that gives them a sense of sympathy. Selen gets bullshit from the management, and everyone just wants her to graduate already. Fuwamoco were dropped in their past workplace due to financial problems and they already did their job promoting the game, so they weren’t needed anymore. Pikamee was harassed for playing Hogwarts Legacy, and her entire fanbase came to her defense and universally shared the grief of her graduation.

Nobody is really free from haters. I’m pretty sure people mostly have a good opinion of Selen and she deserves it but she has her antis like anyone else. Let’s not delude ourselves with this at least. Even Fuwamoco, the least offensive people in the industry, have their own cadre of insane obsessives waiting eagerly for them to step one toe out of line. The Pikamee event was what happens when those obsessives manage to get something… anything, to stick.

Nothing is universal except for death. That being said, there are things/people/music/etc. that are “universally” loved. It’d be realistic to say they’re more loved by anyone, and haters would not have a legitimate reason to hate them….but that doesn’t roll off the tongue very well. These VTubers are easy to recommend to anyone who likes VTubers. To put it another way, it’s kind of like The Beatles. If someone loves music, generally, they either like The Beatles, or it’d be easy to recommend them. 99.99% of the time you’ll be right. The only people I’ve ever heard about that don’t like them are either people who just don’t listen to/like music, or contrarians. I’m not saying there aren’t people who don’t like them who don’t fall into one of those categories , but it’s pretty few and far between. So yes, they do have haters…but 99.99% of them are illegitimate. If you show them to any reasonable person, they will probably love them. I’m not even sure why I wrote this whole thing, but I’ve put too much effort into it to just delete it.

I feel like she's something akin to "the Ollie of Nijisanji", where she is a completely genuine ball of positivity that is her true self both on stream and off stream, which naturally draws many people by her side. Her brand of humour hasn't really been my thing, but all I've seen from her is pure love and support towards the vtubing scene as a whole and that seems to reflect her personality behind the scenes as well with how many are coming out to stand up and protect her.

Honestly, everything you mentioned about what makes Selen so great in combination with the contents of the statement released by Niji is what makes me think that she would be a good addition to VShojo, if she wants to go that route. Simply because of what I've seen Mata say about the difference between how she was treated at Niji (or 'Hollywood' as she disguises it) versus how she's treated at VShojo when it comes to how much she's supported in pursuing her goals and the like. The statement Niji released regarding Selen's termination paints a picture of her working her ass off constantly to improve Niji's brand, while Niji was consistently denying her the resources to do so to the fullest extent (while at the same time reaping the benefits of what she was able to achieve despite this). Imagine what she could achieve in terms of cross-community collabs if instead of having an agency that fought her at every step of the way, she had an agency that was willing and able to support her in those projects.

Ive been watching vtubers for years now but i never had an actual vtuber oshi. After a while in this community i casually called my favorites my oshi, but it didnt hold the same weight as my other non vtuber oshis. There were some that got close but i just didnt feel that same connection as with my already established favorite idols. Then fuwamoco came along and suddenly that same feeling in my heart for my other oshis came out of nowhere and theyve had my heart in a death grip ever since. I can actually fully say i have an oshi in this community now thanks to them 💙🩷 theyre passion and hard work and everything about them up from their personalities and their interactions with us and eachother to the up to their designs all struck a cord with me. Upon that first BAU BAU and their pledge of loyalty at debut, each rock and rawr party, every fuwamoco morning and mococo’s pup talks, celebrating each milestone, up to now being able to pledge loyalty back and celebrating their birthdays, theyve been this incredible beacon of light for me these past 6 months and i can fully, confidently say, i have an oshi now. And funnily enough theyve gotten quite a few superchats (one time right after the other) of other ruffians recounting the same thing. They truly are something special, and in the words of another ruffian ‘before i was oshiless until fuwamoco came along and gave me TWO!’ Anyway i just did exactly what you said in the video and ive outed myself as a ruffian lol Anyway BAU BAU 🐾🩷💙

Other than Fuwamoco, In Hololive there’s Kaela and Bijou. For me these two really show sincerity, hardwork, and positivity. Kaela being openly honest about her feeling of gratitude to her viewer and enjoy every game she plays. While bijou always being funny little goblin always make my day. I can’t think of any reason for people to hate these two. I’m just making these comments since DN don’t seem to mention them in the video.

Kaela after years and years with that 50+ hours non stop League of Legends game molded her to be a saint rather than toxic waste, a rare case. Also yeah she even got hate superchat before, annoying backseaters, collab beggars, and ppl who comparing number of her subs/ccv, but she always defused the situation and the stream is back on track very quickly. Thus leading her chat also so quick to ignore and not berate those trolls.

Honestly, Kaela and I guess the entire HoloID vtubers in general also deserve the "unhateable" label DN give to these 3 examples. HoloID is able to get away with so much because they managed to nurture a solid and loyal fanbase to tank the hate everytime they do something deemed to be controversial in the Hololive community even dated back from Area 15's era Iofi were harrassed by some of the lesser mature chumbuds back in the day, and the entire community, not just her fanbase, acts, because Risu and Moona also acted against Iofi's harrassers, so their fanbase followed too, and that become the norm within the HoloID fanbase ever since, including to the time when the Hogwarts Legacy drama reached Kobo. These 9 girls are so beloved by their communities, and they definitely put in the work for it

Ngl, first time experience about Korone - at first, I thought she's just a girl who likes playing videogames. But the longer I stay, she starts to grow on me. It started from feeling like she's a little sister I've never had when she started to play games like RE and DOOM. And when she started to throw tantrum, I really wished to give everything I got for her - like a grandfather spoiling his precious granddaughter. (Might be a weird analogy, but you know what I mean) And then... There's Pekora. She's like the type of sibling that I'd love to troll every chance I get. Thank you for continuously pumping out interesting videos, DN! However, the history of Selen reminds me of a certain pegasus - maybe a kinder persona, but underneath they have a lot of common, hard working, seek to elevate not themselves but other vtubers, friends but strangers too, via common work, work hard for their fans and also, if I may say so, keen business sense. Remember when KZbin shorts exploded in popularity and there were basically two vtubers from small agencies who were ready to ride this wave to stardom? And the other one, Rin, truly got her deserved position. But that brings me to a more darker part. Neither Selen nor Letty were universally loved, in fact some particular people who worked with them seemed to taken a negative disposition - and the persons were the managers. I don't know if they were members of Hard-working Employee Victims Anonymous but I cannot imagine another reason. Maybe they hated the amount of projects, the work being thrust upon themselves, it is hard to say, but ultimately it came to a clash in both cases. And even if you say gen 3 laid their heads on the chopping block themselves, they wouldn't do it without a reason. Let's not forget the negative good-byes from their agencies they got sent off with, I understand both Niji and Kawaii have a tendency to "realize" how "evil" the vtubers who were just terminated were but it is still a bad taste. It leaves us with some interesting questions, IMO: How many vtubers like that actually exist in some companies but are being held down because it is too hard to get their project through all the approvals because the company is not as interested in their success? And what can a company do to instill the right mood in their managers, to make them excited about their vtubers' and their company's success so they feel like it's hard work but it will pay off to them in the end? Well, let's hope that we as fans will find a way and get together to hold the companies more accountable for the environment they make for their talents.

Let's be real, finding positive things to say about Niji is becoming increasingly harder with each passing week. As a HoloNiji enjoyer myself, laughing at them about the whole situation is all I have left to cope with how depressing their decision streak has been for over a year now. The alternative would be to not talk about them at all, which isn't much better imo, or focus on their past achievements, which he already did. I can't exactly fault him for choosing talking over silence anyway, even if it forces him to address how objectively and unilaterally terrible their decisions are. Reminder that he was also one of the only people actually _defending_ them about their termination of Gundou Mirei over the baseball tweet, and with compelling arguments too.

I was unsure about FuwaMoco' ability to succeed before I saw them. I didn't realize they were IRL sisters. I thought 2 strangers were going to be forced to share one account. Share one income stream? How would this work? Well, after seeing them I think they quickly rose to being in the top 10 (maybe top 5) vtubers out there. I'm one who is sick to death of the over-sexualized slut-vtuber trope and I think FuwaMoco hits all the right points for what made vtubing so popular. Cute girls, funny, silly and entertaining. Even just terms like 'bau bau' or 'ruffians' are absolutely adorable. I never really watched Selen before but now after her complete disappearance for the past month I'm curious about her and I have the feeling that she has no more future at NiJi. Which I think it a good thing. NiJi EN is a nightmare when it comes to managing and good vtubers deserve much better than that. I also loved Pikamee and hated seeing her vanish. I've seen a few clips of Henja but I refuse to watch anything or anybody from VShojo.

Nijisanji really needs to treat Selen better. Even I, someone who hasn’t even watched her, knows about her and respects what she does to bring her community together. The amount of money, time and effort she puts into her work is admirable. Any company would be fortunate to have her. The fact that Niji appears to have treated her and other talents so disrespectfully and mismanaged them that badly is shocking. They really need to get their act together. They already lost Pomu, which was horrible in and of itself, but losing Selen soon afterwards? That would be devastating.
