This is super cool. We need more videos on elite vs real life comparisons. What I’ve always wondered is when you look at areas in elite that are based on star catalog data (where you see tubes of high density star patches) the density is WAY higher than the surrounding area. So wouldn’t that mean elites start density is much much much lower than the actual galaxy? And if it’s that much lower on the outer sectors of the galaxy I can only imagine what it’s like at the center.
@GhostGiraffe5 жыл бұрын
That’s a great idea! I remember a developer said that the core isn’t as dense as in real life because their systems wouldn’t be able to handle it.

Holy sh...eep this was mind blowing for me, and intensifies my longing of wanting to have my own ship and go off and really see it all, if only eh? Which is why I love Elite sure it’s not completely accurate and may not ever be, but it’s nice to have a good idea of how things may be and look out there, what did it for me was the back of Saturn in this video, lit up green, the fly by of the rings made me think of snow that has been driven over on a road at night, I’m 25 and since I was little I’ve always been fascinated with space and the things out there, and it’s content like this that makes me feel that bit closer to it all and increases my love for it since I won’t be able to see it first hand, until your next one o7.

I haven't played this game long, but it seems like having a 1 to 1 Sol system would be a huge draw for content creators, science educators, and -by extension- more players. What's keeping them from adding all the public data from NASA and other agencies to add things like the gas giant moons? Or is it that the time setting those bodies no longer exist?
@GhostGiraffe5 жыл бұрын
It's really great! Yeah We wonder where the other planetoids and moons are too. Having said that, there are more in game now than when it was released so perhaps its just a procedural thing.

Nice job and great on the video you deserve credit man, just a heads up man when you make a next video about something like this you gotta remember this game may have real physics and planets in real life but it’s a different year in game things probably changed over time in the game over years just think of the game from a different universe like how everything lived on in there time how they have everything but over 13 thousands of years as humans got advanced so did planets and statures over time how some were faded away and how some planets got reborn. We are in the year 2019 but in that year it’s 3305 and that’s a long time for them, you have to think real physicals in this game and how many years it changed over time. Like Mars for example like how it got terraformed in game because over the years there time went on.

It's (obviously) unclear how accurate it is and on what exactly they're applying it but it should be noted that Stellar Forge generates a simulated galaxy in the year 3305 and not 2019 (or probably a few years back for the majority of it). This can affect colors, saturation or maybe even the rings depending on what they expected them to do during that time. Too bad we don't have the very small moons, even the smallest ones are still fairly big. I'd assume they would maybe come with comets which would be able to maybe generate bodies of that size.

If I recall correctly Elite Dangerous has based a lot of the generation on information from 2013, hence why some of the later discovered stars are missing. I do not know whether this information was available at the time, but if it was then that is a shame. Although Elite does pack a lot of pretty sights, knowing it could have been vastly improved if mirroring real life is a bit of a downer :(

I love this! But I gotta say this is pretty much why we don't have atmospheric landings yet, and we may not get to land on Earth for another 5-10 years after that.
