I think you're missing the key component of the fashion from BTTF2, which is the technological and cultural shift, the symbology of the posture, the significance to the plot. Emmet is a temporal explorer. He wears the cargo pants probably for utilitarian reasons. the Zippers are likely to allow for hotter weather. The Silver Visors he wore were completely opaque, but that's because they were a kind of augmented reality goggles that could be useful for flying in low visibility. we see stuff in 2015 that somewhat resembled the representations in the film, and I don't believe it's incidental. The Self Lacing feature of shoes never common, however, other gimmick shoes such as crocs were, and considering they are made of synthetic polymer and extremely cheap to manufacture, it is perhaps the closest analog as a technological marvel of shoe engineering. But there were also shoes that had lights in them marketed to children. In a way, you could say whoever invented light up shoes should receive a nobel peace prize because he may have save many lives by giving at least some kids more visibility to avoid being struck by a vehicle. So, as the world gets more safety-focused and protective of children, we should expect high-visibility clothing, including dayglo iridescent reflective neon colors, or even emissive materials like LEDs to become common in apprrel for young people again. The fusion reactor-powered flying car might not be a real thing but It did get a lot of other things accurate, if we a a bit more relaxed with the interpretation.
