Something Adam doesn't mention (probably because it should be obvious), is that the commentators should all act scared of, freaked out by, and disapproving of the Wyatt Family. Regardless of the commentators' alignment. In the real world, the heel commentator would sometimes say things like: "Well, maybe Dean Ambrose should have accepted Bray Wyatt's help," and other dumb stuff like that. The commentary team acted like Wyatt was just another heel, with the face commentator denigrating him and the heel commentator boosting him... It often made zero sense.

Not only are you 100% right, but it's a pet peeve I have in general. No matter WHAT a Heel does, the Heel commentary cheers for them. f they react the same way to everything, then nothing stands out. Jerry Lawler would do the same thing with Ministry Taker, and it was stupid.

They could do it where if a commentator starts showing preferential treatment towards the Wyatt Family, it’s implied that they got converted by Bray’s words and they start acting like a mouthpiece for the Family. That way, there’s a tangible reason for why they’re a heel commentator.

Also it has a nice little tieback to the rumor that Hero/Ohno was going to be the 3rd member of the Shield at one point. Cena's involvement in this fantasy booking is nothing short of genius. He's not the star of the story, but he is sort of the catalyst for the downfall of the family, in a role that only he could fulfill. His moral intractability suiting the narrative perfectly
@notoriousmigz2427
@notoriousmigz2427 Жыл бұрын
And whilst ultimately not being the star, he's framed that way well enough for fans to want someone else, while in the background Seth is being so well built and the Shield being given the platform to get over as individual faces, while Cena being front and centre distracts you from it just enough to want it, think you're not getting it, then be so happy when you do get it.

Here’s an idea - I’d love to see (if it’s even possible) if Adam could tie ALL of his bookings, at least the ones that run concurrently, together into a giant “How Adam would book the WWE”. Even the old WhatCulture bookings. Ending the Streak, KofiMania, Summer of Punk, all of it. Certainly there has to be a conflict in there somewhere, right? It would be incredibly interesting to see. Big fan by the way. The Dean Ambrose video was possibly the best wrestling video I’ve ever seen.

11:20 This, right here, is what elevates this beyond just another awesome Adam Books video into something truly special. I understand the reluctance for Spooky Bollocks in regards to Bray, in that we don't want any of this disappearing/reappearing or telekinetic stuff. But I think Adam's hit on a really potent source of terror - the darkness of humanity's capacity for evil. Its the side of us that we desperately want to cast as demonic possession, or some outside influence that's taken over, when the scariest thing to consider is that *this has always been part of us.* Cosmic horror isn't scary because oooh tentacles & Monsters - it's that our understanding of the universe we live in is incomplete & flawed, & reality is much scarier than we think. Perhaps that's what makes Wyatt so terrifying - he isn't a Fiend, or an Eater of Worlds, or some other being beyond humanity. He is completely, entirely human, and yet he is capable of such influence & power without magic or superhuman abilities. That's an uncanny horror all of its own.
@Partyboy22
@Partyboy22 Жыл бұрын
I think it was John Carpenter who once said when he was making the first "Halloween" that the guy living next door is scarier than any supernatural creature simply because he's real and who knows what evil he's capable of doing. It's also why movies like "Halloween," "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" and "The Last House on the Left" leave such an impact on horror fans not because something like that did happen, but because something like that CAN happen.

Adam nails it straight away by saying that the problem with Wyatt is that the cult doesn't do anything. No one is scared of a cult leader that doesn't attract followers. It's typical of all heel factions (other than the nWo, I guess,) in that heel factions make threats... And then nothing happens. They achieve nothing. Look at the Nation Of Domination. They promised that they wanted to tear a swathe across the WWF and show their dominance... And then they spent a year feuding with Ahmed Johnson... You couldn't beat one guy. Or, even if you could, it took you a year. So who cares about your 'nation'? Likewise, you couldn't convince someone who didn't already have a tramp beard to join your cult... So who cares about your cult?

Tbh, I’d be interested to see this version of Wyatt stick around a little more after losing to Seth. It could be him venting the frustrations about his failures by having vicious, angry matches and attacking former Wyatts while also trying to remake the Family with whomever is needy enough. Basically, it’s a combo of Fiend Bray’s self-loathing/revenge focus, Sad Corbin’s desperation, and Lucha Underground!Famous B’s lower-rent stable shenanigans, plus he would have a chance to show his abilities on his own.

Loved this. Now I do understand that the Fiend Booking has already been made (top notch as well) and that the White Rabbit is TBD. A key part of of the Fiend Booking was Bray's mishandling in the Cult Leader Stage. This booking rectified that. Now how would the new Fiend go through his list? If these 3 Bookings are supposed to just be fixes of phases at their specific time, than that's fine, but I'd like to think that rebooking and booking of Bray for the future establishes a continuity. So my hopeful mind will be awaiting an updated Fiend video somewhere down the line ... like November for the spooky clown and the White Rabbit/Uncle Howdy in December since he looks frosty. Like I said, great video once again.
