in 1979 I was cave diving with my brand new Dacor Pacer 900 and another diver was using his new Scuba Pro reg... He HATED it because after every dive he had to fine tune it to get it working correctly ! He was mad as all hell and wished he had bought Dacor Pacer 900 !

I bought 2 pristine condition Scubapro Balanced Adjustable 2nd stages on eBay. Other than the fact that they are a bit heavy, I love the design and simplicity of them. I get compliments on them whenever I'm on a dive boat. After 40 years, just as good as anything I would buy today.

recently, I rebuilt a Scubapro R109 second stage and I modified the poppet spool to include the balance option, It is a very good quality material and I succeeded to have it perform very well. my only drawback in comparizon to new plastic construction is that it is a bit heavy. very good topo very good video

I wish I had your instructor. I took the equipment specialist course for that exact reason. My instructor used it as an opportunity to try to sell merchandise and very little more. I was very disappointed and really learned little to nothing from that course. I have learned so much more from Alec’s KZbin channel. And constantly pick up more here.

Thank you for this. personally, although I have more modern regulators, I still prefer to use my ScubaPro Mark X dual balanced, adjustable regulator, purchased in 1986, although I keep maintaining it periodically. Besides, it has also a beautiful vintage look that most of my young divers friend love and admire.

hi Alec that second scuba pro and the third scuba pro regs look to have the identical internal valve activation lever, I hope they used a better plastic internal spool for the later version, My early one was very discolored and brittle. On another note, I heard somewhere that the older all metal regulators were less susceptible to freezing up because the metal draws heat from the water more than plastic does. Any thoughts on that? take care Owen m
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter Жыл бұрын
Unless a regulator is specifically made for cold water diving, 50F and lower, they will freeze up. See my video on why regs actually freeze in video S09E05 Why Does my Regulator Freeze? Hint: it's the adiabatic process. Take care Owen. A

Hi! I have a question about ss adjustable knob! I had a great, sci dive tech who I trust, tell me that after every dive I should crank the knob all the way open, and I failed to remember his reasoning for it, or if I’m also supposed to turn the knob back to the middle before my next dive? Why did he say that/should I crank it open after every dive? (Maybe something about it keeps your second stage in better condition) and am I supposed to crank it back after? Thanks for your help! -a 21 year old new AAUS diver
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter 9 ай бұрын
When the adjustment is turned open, the spring pressure on the soft seat is at the lowest level. That way the seat will not be subject to pressure between dives & will last longer. Really, in practical terms, it's not a big deal.
