I really felt for Haida in that situation, because I'm dealing with it in real life. It's not nearly as dramatic as in Aggretsuko, but there was a moment where Haida is like "I'm completely over Retsuko and I'm going to move on" but as soon as Retsuko called him to teach her guitar, his whole demeanor changed. I know that feeling all too well. Sometimes, it's hard to let go of your feelings for someone, especially if they're always around.

Definitely one of Aggretsuko's biggest strengths is how the writers seem to just keep pushing what they're willing to write into the show. Even though I don't fully agree with the theming of season 3 (see: Haeda) I still think it's awesome how the show keeps evolving. Also Pyrite Town theme slaps
@HidinginPublic4 жыл бұрын

@@HidinginPublic [spoilers for anyone scrolling the comments] The show spends a lot time exploring the idea that Haeda doesn't really know Retsuko, and has this fantasy of himself and her together even though it's a pairing that doesn't really work. Then, after the show presents this idea, they STILL have Haeda choose Retsuko, and even put his own desire to see her more ahead of her need to recover mentally. It feels as if the show is saying, "yup, that's the conclusion, just keep chasing a fantasy and disregard the needs of others." It rubbed me the wrong way, personally.
@AlpacaPiola4 жыл бұрын
@@morganometry not really. He tried to get close to retsuko, but of her own problems, she keep denying his offers, because she was thinking that he just see her as a good girl (and also, because she puts a wall in her personal things and work, that's how Japanese people usually is). One of her biggest secret, sing metal in the Karaoke, was revealed to him, and with this, I'm sure she is more willing to be more than a coworker with Haida, and maybe, develop this into a serious relationship.
@rainydot54424 жыл бұрын
@Alpaca Piola @mars personally I agree w/ both of your interpretations of season 3. but like, am I the only one who felt like the ending was a _little_ rushed though? The ending didn't portray a necessarily good way to help someone cope with an experience like that, considering how quickly Haida was willing to try get retsuko over her trauma. I feel even one more episode, exploring retsuko's trauma post-attempted assault, could show how unwilling she was to open up to people and that without any external help she just wouldn't recover. If it went like it then gave Haida a better reason to take her to karaoke and let restuko let it out bc now we completely understand she wasn't willing to beforehand, y'know? I'm pretty sure that was the intended message of the ending, but imo it would've cleared it up better. Still, I really enjoyed this season :O

@@rainydot5442 Well, we don't know exactly how much time has passed retsuko at her mom's home, but if she was absent from her work and was at the edge of getting fired bc of this, i think that a lot of time passed, probably months, so no, i don't think that Haida was mean, he wanted the best for Retsuko, and being drown in that trauma for so long, without wanting to heal, is not the best. And yes, i think one more episode could clear up that thing, but stil.

good shit per usual. I'll say that while I was watching it; though Haida's part was most enjoyable and impacting to me; I don't think it was a huge fleshing out moment for him. It did flesh him out a bit, I'm not saying it doesn't, but I just think this season instead puts a conflict in front of him that has challenged his 2-d 'punk lover boy' trope with just being that same exact trope except for someone else who'll actually reciprocate the feeling. Also, though this is the character I'm literally making a essay about making me sound hypocritical, the creators really could of expanded upon him more in other facets of his life other than his romance and friendships which I feel like his conflict just really revolved around again this season except to new lengths.

Yea there shall be no haida slander, he didn’t just simply pick inui because they would make him feel like his feelings for retsuko were never real, he would feel dishonest with himself and Haida is a much too good hearted person to simply give up on retsuko at the drop of the hat, despite inui being such a lovely and accepting girl

That's crazy I actually have the complete opposite view, thinking season 3 is the weakest (but still very good). Maybe I just simply relate to the workplace aesthetics and grounded complications Retsuko faced in them. Just wasn't drawn in by the grander scope that is the idol world. Also, I hated Haida's decision making this season, when it was so apparent he is making the wrong decision, but you make a great point that sometimes, that's just the reality of how far we go to justify the love we think we want. Though I hope they don't end up together. I'd like him to finally learn to move on. Even though I don't agree with the praise, love this and all your videos my man!
@JesusSanchez-xu5fg4 жыл бұрын
Whether his decision was right or wrong, it was still his decision to make. And if Haida had forced himself to bury his feelings for Retsuko and dated Inui, there's no guarantee that he will get over Retsuko, and he would have probably hurt Inui a lot more.
@Aflay14 жыл бұрын
The strength of every season for me is just how dramatic and tense things get. I hate slow moving episodes, and while that’s kind of the point of an office comedy, this show tends to add sauce to flavor the slow moments. I found season 1 had the slowest finale with no sauce or satisfaction. I don’t hate it, but it’s my least favorite season. Season 2 is great. An overall more well-rounded season. Season 3 is just sauce OVERLOAD. The whole time, I was super giddy for Retsuko, finally taking charge, finally fulfilling her dreams, and even standing up to her BOSS! Actually standing up to Ton, not just for petty reasons, but actually standing up for what makes her happy! I SCREAMED. A LOT. I guess it’s a matter of personal taste. I’m more about the drama. I appreciate the steady pace tone of the show most of the time, but it’s not the reason I watch the show. Some people like the noodles more. Some people like the juicy meaty bits. I’m a juicy meaty bits guy, but it ain’t a proper dish without the noodles and the meaty bits.
@dumdumm32994 жыл бұрын
big same, i thought that season 3 was definitely the weakest. the way they handled Retsuko’s “trauma” from getting assaulted was laughable (she just needed to stay home a few days and get yelled at by Haida i guess?), the whole “Gori’s matchmaking app” plot line felt completely unnecessary except insofar as it gave Gori a reason to be in the show, and the show continues to do that shit where it resets at the end of the season so they can milk another season out of it when they want to. Retsuko quitting the idol group despite admitting that it’s the one thing in her life that truly makes her happy doesn’t make any sense, until you realize that she has to go back to her day job in order to keep the show marketable on its relatability factor alone. i’m glad that Hiding really like season three- heck, i enjoyed it even with all the criticisms i have about it- but i’m gonna hard disagree that it was the best season.

IS THIS A DREAM???? I always thought "what if she found out a metal group and be the metal vocalist of it?" But it turned out better, with idols, omg. Also, OTM girls with retsuko really look like "ladybaby", but the group as a 4 girls, the girl that do gutural voice, center and leader of the groups (Manaka) and the other two vocalists. They're truly ladybaby in anime. And the creppy and regular fans, omg is so accurate. It reminded me of Irayama Anna of Akb48 being attacked by a fan with a chainsaw, literally fuck these people. Well despite of me sometimes having anxiety watching this, It's definetly my favorite season, because it was pretty dang interesting of how they have done with retsuko. Retsuko finally showing her true ultimate death metal form by singing at the otm girls band, really made me feel surprised. And then the moment where a stalker wants to kill her, because she "ruined" the otm girls band really was the darkest moment, yep even darker than Anai making super uncanny faces at like almost the first half of season 2 (god that made me haunt so hard). Also Fun Fact: I completely binge watched season 1 to 3 for almost 8 hours and then I watched the whole fourth season in one go too after a few days of me making concerns of continue watching this show, because I had a sudden uncanny feeling of everything going downhill steadily in this series...

I feel like there were things to like about season 3 and relate to. I haven't had stalkers as bad as Retsuko, but I definitely felt that fear about the whole situation. And while I don't think I would dismiss it as easily as she did in the scene, I do feel like we all have perceived safety in a crowd. Furthermore, dealing with an automobile accident or something of the like is something a lot of adults should know how to deal with. What you should do and what you shouldn't. While I couldn't relate with the whole becoming an idol thing, I can relate to being concerned about losing my passion for the things I love because I try to monetize them. Furthermore, dealing with a budding romance with someone while still being hung up on someone else is definitely something I find pretty relatable as well. So while she definitely had things going on that weren't exactly relatable, there was still plenty that kept it grounded.

Not enough time felt like it was spent on any of the aspects in order for it fully bring them all out. The revelation of retsuko choosing not to continue being an idol was very frustrating to me because it didn’t come from retsuko, I have no reason to trust the inference made by retsukos boss when it’s actively shown retsuko’s new choices confuse him. I didn’t agree with all the choices but I can’t say I didn’t like the season, it was good but also at times frustrating

Great vid and really welcome, there's a lot of discussion to be had on the series and basically ani-tube seems to barely want to touch it aside from a few people on twitter. A lot of people putting the morality of the characters under a microscope eventhough, in the context of the other seasons, it all fits really well. My only negative with the season is what seems to be ongoing with each season which is that any character not involved in the main conflict barely gets any screentime (like I feel there was an entire arc to explore with Komiya secretly being a big name in idol culture).

Aggretsuko is the sole reason i subscribed to netflix. There are many great shows on netflix but none hold a candle to aggretsuko

Dammit Hiding. I just watched the episode of rant cafe where you talked about the end of Girls Last Tour. Now I'm sad and have no idea what to do about it.

i’ve been waiting for season 3 and i was rlly happy to see it on netflix on one night and binged the entire season that one night!! LMAOO tbh i was really surprised with season 3, especially the part where that one crazy dude was about to literally about to kill her i thought that was absolutely crazy. i really liked the new characters especially the manager and the lead singer And i also liked how we saw more of haida, and him deciding on his feelings towards retsuko there were times where i sorta wished that haida ended up w the other girl but i also wished that he’s up ended up w retsuko so i was jus tied between those two LMAOO

Yes,it is a bad season,the 4 one,i LOVED otm girls and Hyodo,and i truly hoped:"Please,someday if retsuko agree on that,that she could be in the band back again with manaka and the girls!" But no,all i got to see is haida ruining everything!

You should list the music you used in the description cuz I want to know what songs you used. I know the first one is Pyrite Town from Pokemon Colosseum. Good thing I got a good memory lol

It has been a wild journey, but for it to return to the exact status quo in the end felt really stagnant and anti-cathartic to the genuine journey Retsuko went through

Is that song at the beginning from Pokémon colosseum? Takes me back so long ago.
