Your general explanation regarding photons is correct, however you do not need AI to correct this. This correction can be done with classical algorithms (e.g. kernels) intead of self-learning machine learning algorithms (AI). Not all computer wizardry is necessarily AI!

Dark current or what do you mean? The dark current is easy to remove, as it is always the same. You can just record it and then subtract it from the images. Some form of this is done in all digital cameras.

I’m not tryna contradict you here but Ai is not needed to bring out the detail in dark images. Modern cameras have a much bigger dynamic range of intensity. It just needs a contrast adjustment so our less dynamic range retinas can see the differences in dim images.

I am pretty sure that the amount of photons is not the cause for terrible video quality. Go pros just plain suck at night due to their in adequate sensor that has little dynamic range and isnt very sensitive to light. If you want better nighttime video, you need a more sensitive and larger sensor. It would make it useless during the day though because everything would be blown out. Maybe someday we will get sensors with pixels for day and pixels for night, but that would be really expensive.

Ok I guess but how practical is this compared to a flashlight or night colored lens. Ai camera footage is a edge length of interpreting a stop sign to a sælœp sign. It’s not reliable (to an arguable extent) because it’s practically doctored footage. (I believe) it’s using Silicon Valley collected data to interpret what, for example, the speedometer is going in, that’s kinda scary for legal reasons
