About 25-30 years ago, (long before AI) a female co-worker of mine told me a wonderful saying, "Believe nothing you read, and only half of the things you see." With the invention of AI, this saying applies even MORE so now than ever! 👍

I got the grandson call, short story when asking for my help I asked why not your father? Reply was he was embarrassed and would I speak with the police. Light bulb went on so said sure but in person only - he hung up. As a wee one he had a code word which I should have asked him! The latest one was asking why I hadn't claimed the life insurance policy for my late husband. They were really good until using too much info from his death notice for me to verify, so when I said they could have gotten it from the notice, they said I wasn't the right person and hung up. This was a scam I hadn't heard of, so almost got caught. The sad part of all the many calls since his passing is that I trust no one without me being the one verifying who I need to deal with for anything. Advice - don't put a detailed death notice in the paper or online, besides it is cheaper.

It drives people crazy but I never use my full name over the phone. I try not to say "yes" over the phone. You can also use phrases or passcodes you and the other set up to throw them off. Gift card scams. I saw this all the time as a cashier. You'd have someone call and make you stay on the phone from home, to store to back home... No this is fraud payment in gift cards.

I can easily check how much spave I have left in my email accounts. I would defo not click on this. I tend to open suspicious emails in plain text even, so I accidentally don't click on some link.
