Thank you. I feel at peace without alcohol. The daily buzz, withdrawal, guilt, worries about damage to my liver. My brain cells, my heart. How my family looked at me

I quit drinking a year and a half ago, I'm 31 now. So glad I got on top of it, I could feel it spiraling. Staying in to drink alone rather than social drinking was a sign for me. Drinking problems away, but they never go away. I always watch your videos, first time I've commented though. Really helpful, keep it up!

What was once someones crutch to lean on becomes the cross they have to bear....i met a lovely homeless alcoholic guy some years ago, he told me his story, he had a twin brother who was a lorry driver, one day whilst doing his job, he rounded a bend and hit a car head on that was coming round the bend on the wrong side of the road, there was nothing he could do to stop it, sadly killing the couple and the child inside...his brother couldn't live with what had happened and committed suicide, this started the guy i met drinking and led to his alcoholism....There is always a reason...my partner isn't a bad man, in fact he's a good one, sadly drowning in Vodka....🙏

I think we all know that to beat the demon drink youve got to want to do it nik'. I feel for you and your partner i just pray he realises the hell on earth the drink causes and gets sober. Your obviously very supportive of him so i hope it has a happy ending..take care .

@@clarissa1976 Sadly Clarissa he has no intention of quitting at this time, there was talk and hope of a detox, however that disappeared into thin air...He is firmly entrenched in alcoholism...😢

@@garyfaulkner1480Hey Gary....sadly at this time he has no intention of quitting and is suffering as a consequence ....He's sick several times a day, despite being on anti sickness medication and having intravenous medication as an emergency day admission in hospital last week, of course it won't work as he is still drinking...he has oesophagitis and gastritis as well as cirrhosis....if love could heal he would have been alcohol free and thriving, that's what I'd hoped for ....I barely see him now, I've got angry and upset with him for not supporting me during a difficult few days, truth is he hasn't got it in him to be...🙏

If you quit things like alcohol, you will have more time etc for something like a nice holiday. A good holiday can refresh and invigorate you. It's also a good experience. Proud of him.

I think you have a problem when it gets you into trouble. When it affects your relationships with others. A good sign (non medical) you need to think about your future is when you humilate yourself in front of a group of people (especially people you know). You know you have a problem when it costs you more than money. I don't think alcohol makes a person act out of character rather it intensifies your current mood (ie angry, sad, depressed, happy) I think people try to retrospectively justify their behaviour when they are drinking with rubbish examples like that. I abused alcohol when I was younger and naive and quit it before it took over. I'm not anti alcohol but see little benefit in continuing to drink, I hope the person reading this will feel the same way. Also don't use new year as an excuse to quit drinking, you can start this now. I know a pos who abuses alcohol and they will never admit they have a problem and will never try to quit, they also criticise others for their shortcomings whilst ignoring their own (misery loves company). They can ruin their own life all they want but YOU don't need to do the same with your own. Opinions are my own. Have a good day reader.

Depends on what mental illness is mixed with alcohol, like someone autistic drunk will be very strange and not know how to conduct themselves

Hi Stevie your spot on it does take everything if you let it but that can be beneficial if I had not lost the lot I would have carried on till death . But as you and many others say the only way is up like climbing a greased rope but that is still attainable one thing i remember is the DT.S delirium tremors I saw some real bad things I was in a car not driving and when I looked down I saw large locusts and when they shook they changed to another insect I was aware though that they weren’t real because there was enough brain cells functioning to say hey your neice can’t see them so not real but that was one of a few scary moments I will close for now enough of this doom and gloom any how stay sober that’s the mantra keep trying people 🦊

It's life changing and never let's you. Even now after 30 yrs sober i still crave alcohol and I know if I took one drink that would be it. I study addiction as I'm now a psychologist.after retiring from the job and even though I should know more than most I have no answers as to why some people become addicted (I deal with the aftermath now).cheers steve hope your good.
