I will never forget the evening when I attended her concert at the New Orleans World's Fair. I was dressed in my Navy summer jumpers for the concert, my sister had gotten my ticket for me on the thid row, center stage. Laura saw me sitting there and took a moment from her preformance to recognize those of us in the Armed Forces. She asked me to stand which I did. Then she did something I will always remember most of all. She saluted me and the ampatheather broke out in applause. Thank you Laura

Laura may be shedding tears over the loss of her father? This concert is from 1982 or 83. Her husband didn't pass away until 1996. She gave up her career for more than two years to care for him. He had cancer. We can all learn something about dedication to others from Laura. Laura left us in 2004. The choir in Heaven has immensely improved since her arrival, I am sure. We look forward to hearing you again Darlin'!

This is such a great performance! It's very rare that you see a performer put their heart, soul, and emotions into a performance and you can physically see their emotions and hear true pain in their voice.

There is something about this song that must remind Laura of a difficult time (or several) in her life. She seems to always fight back the tears every time she sings it live. It is a comfort to know that there is no sadness in Heaven. A place where the Angelic choir is surely much-improved since her arrival, We miss'ya Darlin' (sooo very much)!!!

Back in the day the people who controlled music weren't afraid of REAL emotions, didn't resent people who expressed them, and didn't immediately set out to mock, scorn, and sandbag anyone who dared venture upon sincerity. Imagine that. Snarky, cynical, sarcastic controllers of what would be accepted in the social setting, wouldn't come until the early 1990's. Even still, those of us old enough to vividly recall the way we were, can chuckle to ourselves in tears of defiance and memories that can never be taken away.

In 1994, not long after the release of Over My Heart, Larry Kruteck, Branigan's husband (m. 1978), was diagnosed with colon cancer. Branigan refused to accept the medical prognosis, and left the music industry to devote her attention to him. Branigan put Kruteck on herbal treatments, eventually nursing him full-time. Kruteck survived for another two and a half years and died on June 15, 1996 in New York.

I made a mistake when I watched this video--it laid me open, once again, to such pain and loneliness because I lost my wife to cancer only 94 days ago. I know Ms. Branigan lost her husband before she, too, left us suddenly. But at least she's with him once again. I have prayed that God would take me, too, but it hasn't happened yet. So now I pray that my wife waits for me and saves me a place beside her when it's my turn for the Lord to take me home. So much pain.

At midnight I lit a candle, uncorked a bottle of the Good Stuff, and spent most of the night listening to her music. We miss you ti amo. Hope to meet you on the other side. TF1 I saw your sweet smile, I heard your laughter. You're still here, beside me everyday, 'Cause I know you by heart.

There ain't a better vocalist. There never will be! She's the best! As long as this world spins, she'll be the best. :) I know it was hard for her family when she passed. :(

This is sad, makes me think about how I would live without my husband, I am so choked up right now, I can hardly breathe, it ;s just so sad she died so young. She had a great range in her voice, what a talent! She was just three yrs younger than me, what a pitty.

She was the sweetest, biggest heart in the hi-NRG music scene and was always a class act. She may not be the most influential talent of the 1980s, but when you hear Laura you're right back there on the dance floor and 25 years younger. Ti amo. cara!
