I cannot deny the fact that Reliance has been really smart in its moves to see the future growth and work accordingly. However, India;s small to medium scale business which Reliance terms as "un-organised sector'' is one of the reasons why India has never seen a shortfall of FMCG and daily essentials in the last few decades including the Covid19 times. The steps taken by Reliance are posing a great threat to Local Kiranas, small scale businesses and also creating a sort of monopoly in the market which is never justifiable. I always believe that existence of multiple players in the market with no drastic difference in market shares is essential for the FMCG market at least when it comes to reselling. Moreover, big companies like reliance should focus in manufacturing and NOT on distribution. Government should take steps to stop these business practices otherwise a lot of small businessmen will become a franchise of Jio one day or would have to shut down their ancestral business just because they could not give a few products at a cheaper rate than Reliance. One step that government can take is allowing Reliance to open only one shop per village or block. There can be other strategies too, however, I feel that this business is not meant for big players like Reliance.
