Thank God that everything from the versatile sugar cane nothing is wasted or damaging the environment,born and grow amount the sugar canes fields,nothing better than cutting a stalk of sugar cane peeling with your teeth and just chewing every drop of that sugar cane juice out ,never after your jaw with hurt ,but to me that was part of the joy growing up in sugar cane fields.

great video! I really appreciate the effort that goes into harvesting sugarcane. it's fascinating to see the whole process. but honestly, I think we should also consider the impact of large-scale farming on the environment. some methods might need to change if we want to protect our ecosystems. what do you think?
@AgricultureInsightusa26 күн бұрын
Thank you so much for watching and sharing your thoughts! 🌱 You're absolutely right-large-scale farming like sugarcane harvesting is both impressive and complex, but it does come with environmental challenges. From water usage to soil health and emissions, there’s definitely room for improvement.

my grandparents were sugarcane farmers in Jamaica. unfortunately sugar industry is dead in Jamaica so not much sugar production anymore. hundreds of acres across the country now left to waste.
@AgricultureInsightusa20 күн бұрын
Thank you for sharing your story. It's truly sad to hear about the decline of the sugar industry in Jamaica and the wasted potential of those vast acres. Your grandparents' hard work as sugarcane farmers is a testament to the island's rich agricultural history. Hopefully, with innovation and support, those lands can find new purpose in the future!

I was born and brought up on a sugar estate in South Africa. In South Africa the harvesting is still manual because of the lay of the land.

That sounds like an incredible experience growing up on a sugar estate! It's fascinating to hear that manual harvesting is still practiced in South Africa due to the terrain. It must be such hard work but also a testament to the dedication of the workers. Thanks for sharing this insight!

They plant at 1 to 1.5 meters deep? 3 to 5 feet? I don't believe so.
@AgricultureInsightusa16 күн бұрын
Good catch! You’re absolutely right-sugarcane isn’t planted that deep. The planting depth is usually much shallower, around 4 to 6 inches (10 to 15 cm). Thank you for pointing this out, and I’ll make sure the correct information is reflected. Appreciate your attention to detail!

You're absolutely right! Fresh sugarcane wouldn't survive a long journey either, but most of it is processed into products like sugar, molasses, or even ethanol before being exported. That way, it travels better and stays usable for much longer.
I understand what you're saying, but it might need a bit more clarification. If this is a reply to a specific topic or question, let me know, and I'll be happy to help you! 😊
