How American Farmers Respond To The Threat From 8,9 Million Wild Boars
Texas has the largest wild boar population, there are currently about 6 million wild boar in the United States with more than 2.6 million feral hogs in Texas alone. These animals have adapted to new environments and can thrive in a variety of habitats from forests to wild swamps. wild boar also damage crops, spread diseases and can even pose a threat to humans and other animals. Many attempts have been made to control their populations over the years from trapping and hunting to aerial shooting without success.

I live in the Philippines and there are so many species of wild/feral boars here. They are afraid of going out since they are a prime target for hunting. As soon as we see these boars, they are all going to be hunted down, all year round. That is why we never encounter any of these problems.

In our area in Southeast Asia, we have various species of wild boars, but we never encounter problems with them because of their fear of human settlements. We do not humanize them and feed them, but instead kill all of it on site. We treat them differently from the domesticated hogs.

The cooperation by land owners and government officials in almost non existent in Texas where hunters and trappers are concerned. Both want to charge exuberant amounts to hunt and thin the ranks of these feral hogs to the point where they are now. Now the Rancher and farmers pay to have them trapped. I have seen them use fly bait to kill off huge sounders. They leave them for the predators to eat who then die of the poison used to kill the hogs and sometimes even the ground gets poisoned and their own live stock die from eating the hay and grass.

@killopmini..You know that's not going to happen They said the same thing that you saying right now trying to deal with the carp taking over lakes rivers etc and guess what they're not putting a dent into it so you can take all that calibration and throw it out the window and the reason it don't work cuz the only way it will work is if you get rid of every single one of them so nobody's going to catch all the carp and they lay so many eggs and nobody's going to catch all these wild boars and they going to be right back to breeding you might slow it down temporarily but then it comes back just as worse as it ever was so no there is no answers Hell look at the snakes in Florida should I go on give me a break 🇺🇲🦅🌍⚓ USMC

As a chef, I always served boar for fine dining. Broken Arrow Ranch was my supplier. Check damaged costs reported in vid. Not billions, but yes, millions. They are a problem!

I have seen a video on KZbin of hunters who clean and cut them with great care and cleanliness, they prepare them in large meals that they share for free with their communities where they spend a pleasant day feeding and no one has gotten sick, since according to them they are known herds that only They eat grains and plants, at least they don't waste as much protein. I know that in some areas they have diseases because they access household waste, but it would be good if they were used in some way. Even if it is balanced foods.

If only we could do to the wild boar population , Etc... what we did to the Buffalo and the carrier pigeon and what we are doing to the spotted owl and countless other native species. We are such a inept species!

right? With all the species we caused to become extinct, it's ridiculous that we can't seem to get a handle on these horrible creatures.

There is not much to disagree with factually in the comments section. However, in reading the comments it very quickly becomes apparent that too many of the comments are "plants", basically saying the same thing with only slight variation in verbage. It is possible to get a point across without resorting to sleight of hand.

We dont have wild boar in North America. We have feral domestic pigs often annually released and stocked illegally and secretly for hunting. Actual wild boar do not survive the overpopulation of hunters but stocking domestic pigs is very inexpensive and popular since the 1960s for hunting leases often advertised in hunting magazines.
