Is the first pour of concrete what’s called the footing? I’m learning how the foundation of a house works and this video is a great tool to help me understand how it is done. Thank you!

All trench footings all flatwork upon unclean organic soil... No basework anywhere... A dryer local but everything is a jello mold that moves, flexes with the ground, not sliding moving intact on stone basework... How long will this stay intact without compromise

Unclean organic soil. Wtf you talking about. This is 8ft deep. Virgin inorganic soil. Learn something and take your trash talking away

Its funny to see Americans using concrete. It almost feels like they don't want this specific one house not to fly on a tornado. But on the other hand I'm quite sure the rest of the house is made out of paper.

Yeah, Americans aren't known for using concrete 🤡🤡🤡🤡 If that was an attempt to make fun of Americans it completely backfired. Try harder next time. Oh, make sure you pay your TV bill too. Don't want your government knocking your door down because your license has expired 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡

American homes are so involved. In Australia it’s just: Concrete slab, no basement. House. Next job.

Damn. Where do you keep the washer, dryer, furnace/boiler, HVAC, water heater, etc? Tucks nicely away in the basement so the main living space is better.

@@WackyPossum Washer and dryer in the laundry (small room inside house), hvac and water heater outside, furnace it isn’t really cold enough here. I live in a cool climate area and even here we don’t run a furnace, just a regular hvac heater. Sometimes the hot water heater / boiler is inside the laundry though, depends where you live and whether you want the space for something else. I have an on-demand one so just a panel on the wall outside that has pipes in it that get blasted with natural gas fire to heat the water as we need it. Also most of the country has pretty long days, only one very tiny part of the country in the south of Tasmania has short days in winter. The top probably 1/3 of Aus is a tropical climate.

Oddly enough in the United States I believe less than 50% of homes have basements... I believe about 7 or 8 states require a basement as they are prone to tornadoes
