How and When To Collect Hollyhocks Seeds

Hollyhocks grow really well here in Norfolk, and are really easy to grow from seed. This video shows when the ideal stage of growth on the Hollyhock plant occurs for you to collect the Hollyhock seeds, what the Hollyhock seeds look like when they are ripe, and how to collect the Hollyhock seed pods and get the seeds out as they mature on the stem.

Thanks for the great information! I’ve never grown Hollyhocks but must think about doing so. I didn’t know they were biennials like Money Plant (Honesty) and you can plant them in the Fall. I live in the States, Tennessee (zone 7a) wondering if I can do the same. The seeds look very easy to collect unlike smaller seeds. I would like to collect Santa Barbara Daisy (‘Profusion’ in England) seeds but they are so tiny I’m unsure how to do so. Well, thanks again!

Oh no thats such a shame. We did not get rust too badly this year. if we do i remove as many of the affected leaves as possible and this seems to stimulate new leaf growth and plant usually recovers but not always
