@@RawLondonGardener definitely do. I don’t think you can match the taste of home grown butternut squash when bought from a supermarket. Home grown flavour is a whole next level. Enjoy the rest of your vegetables 🌶️🍎

great vid, thx! 1st time growing winter squash. they're not quite ripe yet, but the temps are dropping. gona be 1 degree c night temp over next couple of days...should i harvest them now anyway?

@@magspies Hi. Many thanks for watching the video and for your message. The squash will still be okay down to that temperature for a short while but my advice would be to cover the squash over night to keep the fruits warmer and protected should there be a night frost. You can use some horticultural fleece, hessian or an old duvet over night but will need to take the covers off as the temperatures rise in the day, and also to allow the fruits to be exposed to sunlight. If the squash are very close to full ripeness then you can harvest to prevent loss. Earlier harvesting isn’t necessarily bad but it just means that the fruits may not store as well.
