R'nA Co-Founder Nick Peterson explains how and where to make a mineral site for deer for under 25 dollars! That is over 100lbs of minerals and salt combined for cheap!!! Forget buying the expensive 20lb blocks when this is something anyone can do to improve nutrients for deer!

Yes, you can set it in spring, repeat summer till it is gone in deep ground. Before season open.

Great advice man. Wish I woulda tried the koolaid when my county allowed it but it’s been halted for the time being. Can’t stress enough, close to a water source on existing trails and they will hammer it!

Add a 50lb bag cattle mineral with a 6% phosphorus minimum. A ratio of 1:1:2 (mineral;stock salt:trace salt). The grape mix will def help with palatability.
@robertburkhardt9723
@robertburkhardt9723 Жыл бұрын
I second this. The mixture in the video is basically a salt lick which is still wanted and needed by the deer due to how much water their diet contains in the summer, but it doesn't have the calcium or phosphorous that aids antler and milk development. I used range mineral from tractor supply this past year with mixed with salt and some molasses.

@@NCoutdoors-910 if you want the video we released on August 4 the 180 inch deer I have footage of him for years eating the mineral site every year. So I say it helps for sure. But on about 30-40 years each year if that helps.

How long does a mineral site last for? Do you have to keep freshening it up and if so how often?
@RunnArrow
@RunnArrow 2 жыл бұрын
I repeated this process about 3 weeks later because they destroyed it and it last till around mid august/September. So next year in the same area I’ll do it again just sooner than May 😬

@@RunnArrow Great Info. So expect to place it out and freshen it up once or twice before season.

Great tip with the Grape. I’ll have to try it next year. I’ve been using Dried Molasses as the natural sweetener. The smell is mouthwatering! I’ve been running 3 separate mineral sites on a 50 acre rectangular parcel. Nearly all 4 sides inevitably lead up a hill to the bottom center of the block. For longevity of the minerals, I clear the ground to bare dirt, 5’ circle. I then use a small gardeners fork to essential tool up the top 3-5” of dirt. Once the ground is loose and chunky I spread approximately 1/4 bucket of minerals over the site. Using the fork again, I sorta fold that in to the ground. Then spread the remaining 1/4 bucket over the loose ground. Finished. Like you stated, all sites locations are chosen with regard to established high traffic corridors. This year, I also added some vine branch mock scraps nearby. As the rain washes the mineral in, the loose ground takes it deeper and assures an even saturation among the site. That helps a lesser quantity of mineral to last quite a while. Every deer that visits the site spends at least 5 minutes on cam digging for treasure!
