How and Why to Prune Mango Saplings?

This is a video on why and how to prune mango saplings. If grown in the traditional manner, the trees will become dense with branches crowding up and reducing the yield. If we want to go for high density planting of mangoes or row planting inside the field where other crops are grown, then it becomes important to prune the mango tree so as to keep the canopy open and also to reduce height of the tree.

I just bought a small mango tree (seemingly at least 1 year old) and it has 1 long stem. How can I turn it into having 2 stems with space in the middle. Worried that if I cut down on the main stem that the tree could possibly die. It’s a grafted tree.

If you keep on pruning, your mango tree than your tree will never produce more fruits. I don't think it is good to prune your mango tree. Don't follow whatever you see on the video.
