I have a mango, that I bought 2 weeks ago. It's finally ripe. Can't wait for another mango eedling. But the mango still has some hard green spots, I get it, it's cold in the kitchen, but 12-13 days is a looot. But the majority of the green has faded to a more of a gold or dark yellow color. It smells quite a bit, it's rather soft.

I finally did it! I finally pruned my main avocado tree!!! I found the shears I was looking for, because normal scissors would definitely not have done the job. My avocado tree looks so small and leafless without the the 11 leaves. I mildly pruned just because it didn't have many leaves beforehand. Maybe 3 or 4 inches. It feels good. But I'm a little worried the tree is gonna magically start dying back from top down. Hopefully it starts sending out new shoots in a few weeks. The buds are orange right now, but they will activate. I put the other part of my avocado in water to try and propagate it in case if anything happens.

It's sooooo cold. 17 degrees F. No snow though, or maybe in some corners where it was windy, but that' about it really. Today, I pried open the shell that the mango seed was in and, it has already germinated, what! I dreamt of this exact thing happening. The soil was cold when I planted the seed, because I keep the soil out in the balcony. But I poured some relatively warm water. I can't believe I'm casually growing avocado and mango trees, while it's prepostrerously cold outside. I'm observing some issues with my mango tree and some of my active avocados. They've been slowing down this past week. They are still developing, but their growth is stunted. Hmmmmm... I wonder why... it definitely has nothing to do with the fact that it's so cold outside, that one of my students' phone split in half, because the display had been freezing the entire time.

By the way, my trees are indoors. I only brought them out in the balcony inSeptember for a bit. Because of the low temperatures, I brought my trees indoors. But last year, when it was below freezing outside, my trees got a bit of frost damage, despite them being indoors. My window has many tiny holes or drafts, that's what I presume. At least the wind is blowing from the other side, so it's quite in my room. Surprisingly, we won't get aaany snow, despite the temps being way below freezing.

Mango update: From Chritmas to this weekend, my mango has grown almost a foot. It's been growning like a weed over the past 2 weeks, well kind of close to a foot. The stem is 9 inches. Compared to my previous mango that died from root rot, that had a short stem of 4 inches, I think it's a much healthier seedling. It has 6 leaves, the seventh shriveled up and died, it was tiny though. The seed is generally alive with no mold or almost any rot. These fungus gnats seem to be the only issue. They aren't too abundant, so pretty minimal, and not seeing any of them larvae. My main avocado tree is doing good. It haaates being dehydrated though. I think it's not root rot, or at least, not mainly root rot. I dug a tiny hole with my finger. When I reached new layer of depth it was impossible not to break a root, there were soooo many roots down there, which were thick, pale and more hydrated. I was surprised. I know that half of it's bioma is below the ground, but I thought that most of the roots have rotten like my old mango, thankfully that's not the case.
