Thinning 'em out also helps to prevent the fruits from smooshing (yes, that's probably an actual gardening term, maybe...) up against each other and getting damaged or getting eaten by wandering insects: I lost a lot last year to earwigs and maggotty things where they were butted up together. Hopefully this year the extra space between them will help. Hopefully.

Ordered twice from two different online gardening companies, a set of three column patio fruit rees. 2 apple, 2 plum and 2 pear. Grew them in large pots and all 6 have branches growing outwards, taking up quite a lot of room. Apples on tress but fungus on plums and pears non existent.

That's strange, they should have most of their new growth growing straight up, you can see my column apple at 00:31 in the video, it has some side branches, but even the side branches grow straight up. The pears might need to be a bit older before setting fruit, dwarf root stocks for pears are not as dwarfing as the apple root stocks so they will need to grow a little larger before they get good fruit set. Sounds like you might have pocket plum, which causes distorted fruit if so remove all infected fruit to prevent its spread. Also make sure the plant has plenty of sunshine and is in a windier location, this will reduce the chance of fugal issues.

What rootstock is your very dwarf tree that has not gotten much bigger since 2014?

I'm pretty sure its M27 as it has remained so small, M27 usually only gets up to 6 foot max, its the smallest root stock available.
