Wiggins not a bust. I think there's levels between great and bust, regardless of how much they compared Wiggins to a great, it's about what he actually was. Wiggins is giving well-above average production on a winning team, a focal point on a championship contender, busts don't do that. How many players can you really look at it and genuinely expect to be Bron or Kobe? Looking at the players on the path to greatness drafted in the last 10 years, how many were even 1st overall? Giannis. Jokic. Luka. Trae. Jalen & Jayson. Book. There's literally just AD, Kyrie and Zion, and Zion is still an if. And although he went number 2, who really expected Ja to be THIS good. And Melo too, but he's no Ja. I wish we gave players at least their first 3 years in peace. Look what LA did to Lonzo, now we need him lmao
@thewriter87622 жыл бұрын
I think that’s a fair statement. I think societally, everything is so automatic that people say either you got it or you don’t. When in fact players are in fact projects. Tooling and retooling their game and team to put them in a place of success. Some people would call bust, not living up to the hype, which I can agree at a certain extent. Others call it a question of “are they contributing to wins” and I would more or less fall on that line.

Westbrook may be at the bottom in all these efficiency stats, but he averaged a triple double last year so..
@BballBully2 жыл бұрын
You changed the definition of bust to make your previous assertion of Wiggins being a bust remain true. U boxed your definition of bust as a player who doesn’t reach the level of expectations set for them. But if the player turns out a good player, the word bust shouldn’t be used. It should be “disappointment”, not bust. Bust the word in and of itself is insinuating broken. So a bust player is a player who is a combination of not reaching projections as well as someone who is a throwaway type player. A player who we don’t need to pay attention to. A player whose presence wont even change trajectories of teams he plays on. A bust simply ISNT a player who doesn’t become what we think. That definition leads to so many mistakes.

On that whole idea that Wiggins is a bust because he didn’t live up to the expectations set up for him is honestly a bad take. He was compared to T-Mac, Kobe, even MJ. Nobody can live up to those expectations. Most peoples expectations were him being an All-Star. That’s what he is. If you call him a bust for not living up to the T-Mac and Kobe expectations, that’s ridiculous. Nobody except LeBron and MJ have ever truly lived up to their level of hype and expectations. They were both expected to be one of the all time greats. They’re the only 2 that ever lived up to standards that were set that high. The amount of players that come into the league that people suspect will be an all time great is higher than one might think, so expecting everyone to live up to these massive expectations that are damn near impossible to live up to is unreasonable. Most of the all time greats started out as solid prospects. Steph wasn’t a very desired player when he was drafted. People expected him to be a role player. Look at him now
