Wanted to share how you helped my dog and me a few years ago! My dog, Cookie Monster, started spending hours alone in dark rooms and ignoring food and toys. I reached out to you over social media for advice because my mom took her to the vet who found nothing physically wrong, and you replied saying that she could be suffering from depression. It was my second year of uni, so it didn't occur to me Cookie was suffering from me leaving her with my parents because she hadn't reacted like this when I moved out during my first year. We adjusted to help Cookie through her depression, and she no longer shuts down when I leave home for internships and school. Thank you for always being there for all animals!

I used to have sugar gliders and I love your glider videos! I owned gliders for 10 years and thought I knew everything. Then I saw a video of one of your reptiles and you said something that stuck with me. Basically saying that the animal community is constantly evolving and its important to keep up with current information. Because of that i did research and saw there was lots of areas where I could improve and because of that all my gliders lived long and happy lives :)

Animal Wonders helped me realize that animal welfare is a huge passion of mine, which helped me decide to major in zoology in college. I am now in my final semester and will graduate with a zoology degree later this year, and I intend to pursue zookeeping since I fell in love with it during my internship at the Audubon Zoo last summer. I also hope to have several species under my personal care in the future, and your channel has made me determined to look for rescues before buying from breeders.

You bring me lots of joy, too! I've been seriously ill for many years and it limits my activities to KZbin, podcasts, and simple mobile games. Having positive channels to watch like yours makes my life so much lighter. I have a real soft spot for furry critters. My favorites are Ophelia, Lollipop, Huckleberry, and Kemosabe ❤️😊 Thanks for all that you do.

Yay!! Thank you for this video, I also work in an animal welfare related field and sometimes it is so important to step back and see how all the hard work has really paid off. Your videos have made purpuseful and unexpected ripples for good all over. I especially loved how people who hadn't heard of positive training were now using it for their own animals. You are helping to make animals' lives better all over the world!

No one care about the love and care I have for animals but fortunately I have you and your videos. The tips and teach I got from you is.....I have no words to describe that. You are fabulous ,wish you good luck and can't wait to go on more adventures with you and hope Zeema gets well soon as she had a surgery. Hope one day my family members can see the love I have for animals. Bye

Even if your family isn't supportive of you taking good care of your animals, you can find plenty of online communities which are supportive! I highly suggest google for a forum related to the pets you are passionate about. ;) It isn't quite the same as your family understanding your passion in pets, but being in a community of people that are equally enthusiastic about animals can really be a good experience. :)

My most noteworthy animal story is about my current cat. I adopted a lovely 9 month old cat from a local shelter. She was insanely playful and wonderfully affectionate and would wait at the window for me to come home every afternoon, meowing and pacing/circling in anticipation when she saw my car pull up. She was (and still is) a /wonderful/ cat. However, after some time I had the impression she had lost weight. It turns out, I was right. To make a looooooong story short, after /many/ vet visits and dietary changes (she's now on hypoallergenic food exclusively), two rounds of a low-level antibiotic (the second because a change in formulation of her same brand and type of hypoallergenic food was enough to give her serious urinary issues) and a change of weight of 8.6 pounds upon adoption to 6.3 pounds at her lowest, she's finally, FINALLY doing better and has stabilized at a weight of ~7.1 lbs. ... She's a small cat. ^_^ Speaking of weight, how is Kimosabe doing? He looks so thin these days compared to how I remember him being when he had more teeth. Does his lack of teeth make it more difficult for him to gain weight or is it because he's such an old porcupine and dealing with all the changes that brings?
@animalwondersmontana
@animalwondersmontana 4 жыл бұрын
Good to hear she's doing good now, well done! To answer your question, Kemosabe is a nice average weight of 8lbs. He's weighed around 8lbs for his adult life so maybe he just looked heavier to you when he was younger because he had his quills out more often? He's definitely calmed down over the last decade and gotten more comfortable with the camera and being close to me during film shoots, and when he lays his quills all the way against his body he looks much smaller. He's basically the size of a medium/small cat and then add quills, lol.
@LydiaTarine12
@LydiaTarine12 4 жыл бұрын
@@animalwondersmontana I'm glad to hear he's more comfortable in front of the camera now. I remember seeing a comment about the difference someone noticed between him and other porcupines like him and that he seemed like a bit of a tense fellow. ^_^

I hope that Jessi responds to you, but in case she doesn't notice this comment in her busy schedule, I wanted to mention that I think she said in a much earlier video that she studied animal behavior. You are already on the right track though, just by asking these kinds of questions, and thinking so far ahead. To get the most engagement and the most knowledge with animals, other options are zoology, or veterinary nursing (sometimes called Veterinary technician), but regardless of the degree, your own passion will take you there. Good luck!

I have a question about cockatiels. I am thinking about getting one as a pet but I don't know where I should place its cage. Should it be close to a window? Could I have it near my bed? I am asking you because I have been watching your videos for a while and I know I will receive a correct and experienced answer.
@TheSwanbear
@TheSwanbear 4 жыл бұрын
Hello, I'm an experienced bird owner! I'd suggest you put the cage near a window, because birds need a lot of light during the day to have a complete day/night cycle (also a bird UV-lamp to get the right type of light). However - if the cage is in direct sunlight, it's important to provide them with a cover that will give them some shade in one part of the cage, so the birds can choose if they want to be in the sun or not. You can absolutely have the cage near your bed, but please be aware that birds are MESSY! Food, feathers and feather dander gets everywhere, and this might not be something you want in your bed. I vacuum my place several times per week because of this. So those are some things to keep in mind! Also, consider getting a pair of them - they are incredibly social birds, and a friend of the same species will make their lives so much better in every aspect. Wishing you all the best!!

@@TheSwanbear thank you so much for your response, I will keep your words in mind. However I have one more question. Is it bad for the bird if the cage is placed near a central heating radiator? Your answer will be greatly appreciated.
