How are cars alive in the World of Pixar's Cars? I mean we’ve always known that cars had eyes and mouths, but for the longest time I never asked: "Why?" I accepted that all vehicles were conscious entities who had their own desires and dreams, but over the last few years, I’ve begun to become obsessed with how the cars function and where they truly come from. Are they some kind of super intelligent robots or are they organic creatures? Are they assembled in a factory or do they biologically reproduce? I mean do cars have souls?

I have a theory that worlds like that of Cars- which I call "VehicEarth"- are the results of Wishes. Some Human loves cars so much that one- like Herbie- comes to life. But because living Cars are still considered property in Human worlds, someone who loves them enough would wish for a world for them to be free in. Thus, a new Earth is formed, in which the laws of physics are different enough that the Cars can develop on their own as life forms. Thus, to replace the need for a driver, they have their passenger space occupied by internal organs. Before refined fuels (which actually come from fossilized trees from the Carboniferous period, far before most Dinosaurs,) they ate raw food which probably often included other, smaller vehicles. Perhaps like how decomposers in our world can extract nutrients from soil, wood, etc., the very smallest vehicle animals (smaller than the bugs) extract minerals. Iron/carbon-based life forms instead of mostly carbon? This means that every level of the food chain would hinge on the tiniest animals, which might be the types of machines that we'd call nanites. The biggest Dinocars would depend on eating smaller ones, although there could be herbivorous ones. Kind of depends on the iron content in the plant life too. But there are a lot of leafy greens that are rich in iron. Same with some nuts.

I read somewhere that the cars take on the personalities of their owners. I think that they have all the parts of any car. But instead of having a biological system like a human or any creature at that. That they sort of magically become like their owners. At least that’s what I like to think. Have a magical day!

"the secret life of things". at least i think that was the title of the book but a search doesnt agree... lots of stories of peculiar things... yknow, how you lose stuff and it shows up randomly, or the fact you can tell your car from a car lot of otherwise identical cars... a chapter on things like cars that decide to start driving in circles then commit suicide by running onto freeways as the owner stands there, keys in hand, wondering wtf... now i have to find it again! only been... iunno... 30 years... my luck, it will show up next week... but thinking that means it wont ;) things collude and conspire to make everything seemingly go wrong at the same time... or make everything work. iunno. everythings alive, but what do you define as life? i say "mere existence". we say a rock is inanimate, but where did it come from, where is it going? it exists. it does what it does...

I believe that before Earth is abandoned in the beginning of WALL-E that nanites were released to help restore the Earth. I believe these nanites brought vehicles to life and also transformed bones and fossils into living machines/vehicles.

So you really got me thinking about wild cars. I assume they can eat food to substitute for gas since they cant just go to a gas station, and food must exist in their world for a reason, but how would a wild car build a new body for itself as it grows, Like a bird or bug car? Not to mention a submarine. Birds just look like little planes made completely or metal. not like the rudimentary cave-car designs.

Nice theory Mr Isaac but I have a reasonable explanation for the car's on quote living parts. Yes sir they need mechanical engines to propel them but I think that the living aspect is used via the car's battery. They are possibly built with multi function batteries to power the on-board computers of em cars. And when the battery gets too weak to work,they die. Soo that's also my theory of how doc Hudson died also. Would you agree with my little theory?

@@harleyxxx5364 Well considering a lot of extended media with Disney’s films and characters such as sequels, remakes, TV shows, video games, comics and novels and the retcons, inconsistencies and plot-holes that more often than not come with them it’s always the most simple explanation that there’s a shared multiverse A good example of this of course is the upcoming Disney jr. Little Mermaid Ariel series that’s clearly meant to be set in a completely separate universe than the original 1989 film and even the live-action remake. And there’s My and Issac’s explanation of the inconsistencies with the two Cinderella sequels that they’re both their own separate timelines. I mean obviously with both Marvel and DC comics as well as several other franchises such as Scooby-Doo, Transformers, He-Man and Ninja Turtles we’ve come to acknowledge and accept that theres a Multiverse with multi different variations of these characters and their stories whereas with the Disney Universe I feel like it needs to be addressed that it’s a Multiverse heck we clearly see that in Kingdom Hearts where yeah it IS a Multiverse!

Great video but I'm not sure why you put "theory" in the title? This was confirmed as cannon by Pixar. Apparently someone asked one of the lead developers on the project if their doors open. He said: "No if they could their brains would spill out" Also you brought a good point about manufacturing vs birth. I believe that cars are born but not the same way we are. A certain model is only born a handful of times before the next. The reason that they have replacement parts is because the cars are making those as well. For us it would be like going to an organ shop and a mechanic would be a surgeon.

Here’s my theory. My theory is that the cars are magic and when metal or any non organic stuff is applied to them the metal magically becomes organic. And when the cars are kids and are growing up the metal grows with them.

I think its kinda cool that the cars are alive cause in our world they're NOT they're just ordinary cars made by people.The part where you mentioned they start out small and need new bodies to grow into adult cars kinda made me think of a similar thing from this movie called Robots in that movie the robots start as babies but over time they needed to get big boy/big girl parts as they were growing up.I guess vehicles and robots are a LOT alike!

That deleted scene was supossed to be lightings nightmare after he was put in prission and fell asleep. In this scene lighting saw doc as mad sciemtist who put his mind inside a steam roller so he can repair the road. Then he was waken up by matter and the rest of the story stays the same

I never really thought much about how the "Cars" series exist. I might be an older viewer to your channel. I grew up with living vehicles like Hanna-Barbera's "Speed Buggy" as well as "Go-Bots" & "Transformers". I remember that the "Go-Bots" came about be humans on a different planet using robotic parts to replace their organic parts when they wore out. The cartoon even pointed out that "Go-Bots" have organic brains. I didn't follow the "Transformers" that closely, but the first movie from '86 mentions something about the Quintessons building most of them. You'll have to watch that movie for the full details. For all we know, "Cars" could have been some spin-off of aliens from both series. How strange would that be?

For transforers they were built (in most continuities) by quintessons who originaly were biological aliens. Now it depends on continuity but one thing is consistent: Energon- mineral aliens used as fuel for their robots had interesting properties which caused them to develop souls and minds of their own. It also allowed for reproduction but here every continuity has different takes on it from being premade shells which become allive when they get waken up by energon to even them reproducing biologicaly since there are male and female transformers.

One theory could be made as one day a scientist discovered a worm whole that can open up a parallel empty space that had only nature and constructions by humans but not humans theirselves like mirror world, so he got an idea to try may be his old experiment to give vehicles consciousness and test it first in this mirror wolrd, afterall he could also time travel in yhis universe using that worm whole so he constructed a factory for enabling cars to be conscious biologically as well as able to acquire new techs as well, so some can reproduce their kids as well as some could be assembled in the factories... And replicated every human event in this parallel empty universe by travelling in time like that planes' world war event and then left these cars to build their own world...
