Great breakdown, I think a lot of strength coaches shy away from bench pressing because of the increase in arm injuries. No matter what style of bench you do you will always put stress on your a/c joints and I believe you hit the bullseye explaining the proper technique and form while performing a bench press.

I don't think it's a coincidence that he has a lot of shoulder and arm muscle and has had a healthy arm and shoulder. The muscle is protective as it regards deceleration.

Last time you said his velo was down because he workouts like a bodybuilder, now you’re saying his training doesn’t matter because he’s different type of athlete.

I do think his velo was down for a bit.

@ yeah but my whole point is summers doesn’t know why he has been so healthy and durable for years. Summers doesn’t know much, much about conditioning and strength.

Like your video man thanks for putting the content out there. From my movement perspective have you ever wondered why a world is Chapman being a left-handed is the hardest thrower in Major league history however left handers are the softest throwers in general there’s something from a physiological standpoint that he does so exceptionally that he is able to counteract the imbalance in the asymmetry of the body by engaging his left diaphragm.

Talking splits. My sun is a young minor leaguer INF/OF. He likes to do four sets of leg variations and two of each push and pull variations 6 days a week. Plus auxiliaries. Lots of hill sprints, mobility and plyos. He’s putting on size and all his numbers keep improving. I know that this is unconventional. What are your thoughts on this?

Can you give more details on this program?
@Dirtydangles222 күн бұрын
@ He is pretty free wheeling. He makes sure that he does two leg exercises for four sets in total daily. He’ll bang off trap bar deadlift at say 250 lbs but move it quickly. He’ll also go over 400 lbs. Then a single leg lunge variation. He can reverse lunge over 300 lbs but rarely does it. Lighter but moving quickly. Various push, pull variations. Lots of anti rotational core work. He does a structured speed, plyo, medball, COD program through overtime athletes. Hitting program through Driveline. He’s the second fastest player on his minor league organization and one of the best jumpers. Surprising for an Irish/Canadian!

I want your opinion. Should underdeveloped and young players focus on getting bigger and stronger first before they start focusing on “sport specific” workout routines. I agree while Chapman has some of the best mechanics in baseball I feel like we don’t give enough credit to his body structure. I feel like that to build the power you need pretty good muscle mass maybe not to the extent of a bodybuilder but you look at rising star Christian Moore, Jeremy Pena, and others they are not small dudes they are are not your “typical” baseball shape.

Is Chapman competing for open body building or a MLB slate? Not recommended 👇
