I went to see Dave Atell in Portland, OR back in 2003. As I was walking to the venue some homeless looking guy asked me if I had a cell phone he could borrow. I told him, absolutely not. When I got in the venue to watch the show, the opening comedian was the homeless looking guy who asked to borrow my cell phone (Mitch Hedberg). The first thing he said when he hit the stage was what an asshole I was for not letting him use my phone. He has since been one of my favorite comedians. I wish I would have known who he was back then.
