It is full-thickness skin which will guarantee much less scarring under the planted skin. The gap between the new skin and the body's skin will likely scar though. But here there can maybe used verteporfin

Maybe it was not good enough. Now they are in clinical trials 3 and the already used it on humans successfully in clinical trials 2

Really exiting science indeed. One thing I was wondering about though, from the infographic at 3:16 it looks like growing the skin can take 30 days. Is that fast enough for someone with burns I wonder? Genuine question here as I'm not (that kind of) a doctor.

Hey! Great question. Faster is probably better, but often they need to wait to see how/if the skin will heal to best assess how a skin graft should best be deployed so you typically have a built in wait time!

I so want this !!!! I suffer scars on my forehead due to when I was young someone in my class has chicken pox and I just came to the US and I guess I wasn’t vaccinated and of course my mom don’t even know how to help me when it come to taking care of my skin . It itches so bad so one day I just can’t help it and picked on them 😟 I lived w the scars my entire life no matter what I do .. not going to lie that my insecurities my entire life is my scars and having shitty acne skin . So anything to grow skin is a must for me as just like every women as we get older we become insecure of our skin discoloration and spent so much money on beauty products that don’t works . Honestly if I have a baby butt skin again I’ll ditched away makeup for good

Will it heal already established acne scars?

Skin grafts are used for deeply damaged skin, while acne scarring only affects the upper layer. Grafting is a serious surgery with a long recovery and imperfect results. That said, I’m sure someone will find a way to use the new technology for cosmetic procedures, it’s a big money business after all. On a side note there is a lot you can do at home and with a dermatologist for acne scarring though, and having scars myself I can tell you that stuff does work. The biggest change I saw was from the cheapest and easiest thing I did- vitamin e oil from my local drugstore on my face every night changed my skin forever and it started looking better right away.

@@colemarie9262 yes, but I hope one day we might be able to regenerate skin, at least remove acne scars forever with normal skin. Do you think we'll be able to do that? I was reading this articl by Michael longaker, and they've found a way for healing without scarring. The tested on mice and pig skin. It healed completely with hair follicles and sebaceous glands.
