This is easily the best and simplest explanation of what astrophotographers do that I’ve ever come across on KZbin. Awesome video

I’m curious to learn what software you’re using to create the moving 3D starfield over the astrophotography image that you developed?
@SKYST0RYАй бұрын
The starfields are obtained using a virtual planetarium of the universe called Space Engine. It is composited over the image using the screen composite mode in Davinci Resolve.

Okay, great video explaining how we do our thing, but.... try explaining this to one that thinks that his 30mp smartphone camera is better than my 24mp DSLR (canon EOS 7D mk II). Try to explain to the same one that you use expensive software to put colors on a black and white picture. Better use Instagram, that comes with filters (to make your face look like it's from plastic). I have a website, with a blog. Many of the readers of the blog are let's say 55+. If I post a photo of a nebula they will say it's very nice and impressive. I tried to explain it once and I posted in that blogpost a photo of a nebula and also one photo (light frame) of that nebula with all the satellites passing, that photo gained more positive reaction than the photo of the nebula. Therefore I stopped explaining photography in general the way I do it to the ones that don't get it. Although I sound a bit negative, your videos always make me feel positive. The way you make videos is special and there are for me just a handful that make videos in the way you do it. I watch all there videos, even if it’s not really in my interest

I came across a study about this effect recently. A person noticed that beautiful astro images tended to get few likes, but poor quality images like those so often obtained directly out of cell phones and many of the new smart telescopes got a lot of likes. The person's assessment was that people tended to like the less professional images because they could identify more with them. He then noted the average American didn't know what a nebula is, or even how many planets are around the sun, and cited the success of an astrophotographer who did well sharing his images while explaining them in a way the average person understood. Carl Sagan was famous for his gift of making science understandable to the average person, and it probably explains a lot of the success of his books. Recently (as in a few minutes ago) someone even wrote that this video was in error because astrophotographers can just use color cameras. I replied that color cameras also use monochrome sensors and combine their primary color channels in camera, but it is yet to be seen whether the person will understand or accept this. I feel it is best to provide information. The viewer will have to decide what to do with it.

@@SKYST0RY Remember that I said one something about Urbex photography? When I entered a location I treated the location with respect and took as much time as needed to make (i think) the perfect photo of a rusty doorknob. Others who rushed trouthg the location won the competitions on facebook groups. In mixed photography groups the baby photo taken by grandma wins 9 out of 10 times. So I guess that if people can't relate or don't have a clue what they are watching they don't apriciate the photo is correct. Luckily I can enjoy watching photos taken by others.
