Really like the analogy of “throwing everything out of your pantry…..”. As always, love your creations and attitude!

Thanks Jill, I realized after that I tend to use cooking analogies a lot. Which is good for fellow cooks, but probably annoying to people that don’t care about it 😆

You are Great. When I first found you on KZbin, I was more interested in learning what paint colors and what techniques to use so I did not find that your Verbal instruction and inspiration was valuable. But now I realize how valuable it is. I guess that’s part of my evolution and you are helping me evolve my painting and collaging. I thank you immensely for your insights.

I’m so happy that you’ve found it helpful, Joanie! I think many of us don’t think about the internal part when we are trying to create, but eventually you discover that it’s driving everything. Such a huge realization! 🤗

I can't thank you enough for this lesson. I didn't even watch until the end because I felt compelled to go to my art room and immediately went over a piece I was not loving. It's so liberating! 💛

I love your gentle approach Marabeth. You've inspired me to start painting this way. I'm only able to paint for small amounts of time as life is 'curvy' at the moment 😔 I'm looking forward to being able to take your class. Much love from Angela (in Western Australia 🙂) ❤

Hi Marabeth. Thank you so very much for your amazing demonstrations. Your art inspires me to dive in and not be afraid to be me in anything I create. Your insight into life and the artistic comparisons with all it's complexities touches a place in me where healing begins. I'm sure I would not be alone in feeling this. I do hope one day you feel inspired to write a book. I have no doubt it would be a tonic for many. 🙂

Hi Catherine, I couldn’t be more happy to hear that anything I said made you feel inspired to just boldly be you with your art. I think it does take bravery and also a bit of reconditioning of how we think about it. Your kind words have made my day-thank you. 🥰

Really helpful. Thank you. I struggle with putting things down and knowing where to go, I know I’m an over thinker. I’m in a state of constantly asking questions and puzzling things out. I need to find delight in just putting things out there whether they work right now or not, and just keep doing it for a while, then work on bringing it together. It’s like a sandbox, you have to fill it with sand before you start making castles.

I love your words, “I need to find delight in just putting things out there whether they work right now or not”-so insightful! I’ve found that even doing exercises where you have NO intention of making something attractive, but just finding delight in the process can be really beneficial in actually getting to new discoveries and things to explore. Thanks for the comment 😊

I absolutely adore your work! You musings are so helpful! I can so relate to everything you said in this video. I’m a mixed media artist myself, and my work usually starts very chaotic as well. I try to play for a long time before I decide what to keep and what to let go, but boy is that process of editing difficult. I am getting better at it. Interestingly, in life, I have no trouble accepting that things come and go, and that it is an ebb and flow. But when it comes to my work, and the hours and materials I put into it I have a much harder time. Thank you for your insightful videos, I always look forward to the next one!
@marabethquinart
@marabethquinart Жыл бұрын
Hi Annette! I agree that the editing phase can be tricky-it’s probably the hardest part for me. Not just in letting go of things I’ve labored over, but also the composition element is always more challenging for me. I think that’s why I’ve had to work on my mindset so much and attempt to reframe the way I look at the labor I put in; if I don’t, I can get super hung up and not be able to move forward. Thanks so much for the comment 😊

Bravo❤. I'm wondering if the flo and the letting go that you are discussing is easier for people who have little to no color theory or fine art background? If your answer is yes then I will be VERY happy! 😄
@marabethquinart
@marabethquinart Жыл бұрын
Well, I’m certainly only an authority on myself, but I would think that there is always the potential of knowledge or education to become something that gets in the way of just going with it. But getting in the flow has been a practice for me-I’ve had to learn ways of encouraging it, of thinking so it’s more likely, etc. And letting go is challenging, no matter what subject you’re trying to engage on; our brains don’t necessarily feel safe just letting go and trusting the process but I think we can retrain that little by little. Thanks for watching, Patty!

Do you use straight glazing liquid to glue down all of your papers? I looked on the Golden site and didn’t see it listed as a standalone recommended application. I’m wondering about the archival longevity using it, especially for the heavier papers. The depth you achieve is wonderful and the piece is amazing.
@marabethquinart
@marabethquinart Жыл бұрын
Thank you, I so appreciate the kind words. I almost exclusively use it, but with heavier papers I might use the gel mediums or seek out another solution just to be safe. With these lighter papers I use, it works wonderfully and I’ve tried to get them off the surface before and couldn’t. 😆

I know that you are an artist, but I think you should also start writing your thoughts during the creative process. It strikes me that you are very poetic, so your poetry might appeal to artists.

I have thought about it, Dianne. I never wrote poetry until the last couple years-it’s a great way for me to express my feelings. But I would like to write a book one day about the creative process. Thanks for your sweet encouragement ❤️
