I love love Audible...I can't afford it consistently so I have to join off and on. Right now I'm listening to "song bird" Mariah Carey's book The Meaning of Mariah Carey...I love listening to celebrities who are telling their life stories/biography's especially the singer's as they always sing to you if they are the narrator as she is in this book. Plus if their speaking voice is soothing that is a plus. This book is eleven hours long and is not boring at all if you are a fan...or if you just enjoy hearing about someone's interesting life filled with trials and tribulations and of course their successes... joy and happiness. Happy listening. And thanks for the very helpful info on using the app...but please slow down a little next time. :) P.S. The timer on the app is a great feature too...I love listening while I'm trying to fall asleep and have set the timer to say thirty mins...just be sure to have the ringer on your phone off so after Audible stop's your phone will not ring and wake you up. ;) Unless you have the app on your laptop or tablet.

Yes it’s true. You get two free audiobooks with the trial instead of one as a Prime member. This is a promotion they’ve been running for EVER. I took advantage of it when I signed up in 2016. Today they have a deal where you can get the first four months for $5.95/mo which is pretty cool. It expires on New Year’s Eve.

You forgot to mention that even with the premium subscription, you need to pay to LISTEN to the exclusives, not just pay to own them. So even with the premium subscription, you can't listen to more than 1 exclusive book per month (using the 1 credit premium) without paying more money. I get paying to own the book but there is no point in paying for the premium and not having access to just listen to all the books.

Sam, I just Googled audibles to learn something about them. I'm 74 and curious. I'm an "audible virgin". Okay, let's go with an "audiobooks virgin". So there's an app, and the reader's voice comes from your cell phone. Now, I use hearing aids and they are Bluetooth paired to my phone. So I'm assuming that the reader's voice will go directly to my hearing aids. I hope you're still with me here. When I watch KZbin videos and/or those short vids, they go directly to my hearing aids, from my cell just like a phone call does. My concern would be that my built in batteries in my hearing aids are going to run down VERY quickly. Any suggestions, if I were to do this audiobook thing? Thank you!

Ok maybe you have talked about this but I love to listen to Christmas stories and there was one I listened to last year but I can not find it for some reason. It was a free audible book. I tried looking under “finished” maybe I just can’t find it but I notice some books when you remove from library that are free dissapear. Is there another way find books I read in the past?

Hmm… are you an Audible Plus member? If it was free, I’m thinking it might have been under the Audible Plus catalog, where as long as you’re a paying member you don’t need to pay extra for it and it’s included in the membership. Once you’re no longer a paying member, it wouldn’t be accessible in your library. That’s just something that comes to mind. I’m sure you may be looking for this as well but there should certainly be some excellent options this year too.

It's now October 2024. I am using a cell phone- Android. I'd like to use the timer, and there are ZERO player controls on the bottom of my screen. There are only the 4 standard selections. I'm extremely new to Audible, and actually downloaded it and removed it once. I found your video and thought I'd try again with your help. There are also no chapters listed at the bottom, just hours and minutes left in the book. Not even sure I trust it to start again where I left off. Thanks for watching, Jay! Those are some good questions. The answers to 1, 3, and 4 are pretty much the same - when you buy a book, you get to keep it forever in your library EVEN IF you cancel your membership. There is NO expiration date for the use of purchased audiobooks. As for #2, credits do expire under certain conditions. Worst case scenario, they expire after a year if you do not use them. It depends on a few different factors but I’ll be putting a video out soon with more info about Audible credits (probably in the next week).

Hi! Welcome aboard. Audible’s an excellent platform for self-education. Are you an Audible member? Premium Plus members receive a 30% discount on all books or more. Sometimes they have 2-books-for-1-credit sales. When you run out of credits, you can also buy 3 more at a discounted rate. If you’re not a member, unfortunately there are no discounts but you do get to enjoy the rest of Audible’s general benefits.

Okay, so I am almost exclusively a thriller / horror story or movie fan. I’m not an avid reader but really love audiobooks. From Audible? Unfortunately there is not. That would be so convenient though. I think the closest thing to that is Kindle but I don’t use Kindle myself so I wouldn’t know for sure.

Does the Audible program on Windows allow you to rewind less than 10 seconds each time? The default rewind time on Android is 30 secs, and I can decrease it up to 10 seconds, but ideally I'd want 5.

Yes 100% you can, and it stays in your library whether you’re a member or not so that you never lose access to the book after it’s purchased.

When you redeem a credit on an audiobook, you’re buying that audiobook - you’re just buying it using a credit. The benefit of this is that audiobooks can cost much more than credits, so getting credits can save you money. Audible is not like other audiobook streaming platforms in that it puts a very strong emphasis on audiobook ownership. They take it so seriously that if you buy a book, they let you keep it, even if you’re not a member. If you wanted to, you could get 100 discounted books, cancel your membership, and come back 10yrs later and still have all the access you want to those same books. The only thing that could change this is if you delete them from your library or if Audible folds as a company (which probably won’t happen any time soon lol). Just a little info, I’m not sure if this answers the question but I hope this was helpful in some manner!

Unfortunately there is no way to do this using the Audible app because Audible books are prerecorded by people and not AI.

There are 18 badges: 7-day stretch, Alexa, collector, dabbler, daily dipper, high noon, marathoner, Mt Everest, nibbler, night owl, repeat listener, sampler, stenographer, the closer, the stack, watchtower, weekend warrior, and social butterfly. If you tap on each one, it’ll give you a little rhyme with a hint on how to get it. I looked for the time needed to achieve different listening levels and couldn’t find it on the app. One source online said newbie is 10hrs, novice is 50hrs, pro is 100hrs, scholar is 250hrs, and master is 500hrs. I think both ideas are cute and fun ways to gamify or track someone’s experience as a listener just starting out, giving one more of a sense of pride and accomplishment for the time they spend with Audible.

I’m finding that there are three levels for each badge (but the articles are written in 2017). For “daily dipper” it they state the three levels for this badge are Silver: Listening every day for 7 days - Gold: Listening every day for 30 days - Diamond: Listening every day for 90 days. But on my profile I have “listened for 90 days” and the badge is gold, no clue what it’s supposed to look like if it’s “diamond” but I’m not finding anything on audible outlining anything about their badges or even confirming anything that’s listed in the articles from 2017. (I have no idea why, but not having information on it is driving me crazy, lol).

I’ve listened to multiple of your videos and please forgive me if somewhere in there this was answered. I saw credits are purchased in multiple of 3’s but is the price you pay for them the same for everyone or is it a different price if your have the 14.95 plan vs the premium plus annual?

I think my only question or comment is, what is the main advantage of audible VS just checking out an audiobook at the library? I think the only difference would be convenience of availability and maybe more titles

I’d say the main advantage is permanent ownership. Once you buy a book on Audible you get to keep it forever even if you cancel your membership. Some others are precisely what you mentioned - no question about it, Audible has the largest selection of audiobooks online. It’s also very convenient to use and you don’t need to go out of your way to borrow or return anything. Instead of going to the library for free, that’s what you’re essentially paying for. I’d say the more of an audio bookworm you are, the more it’s worth it, especially if you like much newer or less accessible titles. They’re more available on Audible than any other platform.

I'd say selection and price. I've found Sanderson length fiction for a credit and enjoyed it, but I've also found the light novels from an anime like Overlord or Shield Hero.

Very good question! I'm going to be transparent with you on this - my wife doesn't use Audible so I haven't done this before which is why I don't feel comfortable making a straight-up tutorial on it but I've been asked something similar and looked into it and the answer is yes but what you need is to first set up something called an Amazon Household Library. Wow was that incomplete, but a good start for me. I am not sure you explained the membership turning off and on. So if you turn off the membership, you can still have access to you bought. If you turn off the membership, what features are still useable? The books you bought? Pod cast? etc. Do all books talk out the words, or do you have to read them on the Screen? Can you see the images on the screen like a graph? Say it is a book like stock trading or painting with lots of images, can you download and print the images? Can you make notes for bookmark, or highlight passages you like? Do all books have text or just voice? Is there a discount for prime members? Do they have sales prices at certain times of the year. Like Disney Hulu did at black Friday?

First question my audible is not allowing me to purchase more credits, why? 2 do I need to claim credits every month if yes how? If no then why isn't it showing on my audioble automatically??

In order to be able to buy extra credits, you have to have a membership that includes credits, you have to have no credits left, and your membership has to be active for over 30 days. If you fit this criteria and there’s nothing wrong with your payment method but you’re still having problems I recommend giving Audible a call at 1-888-283-5051. As far as claiming credits, if you have a membership where you get credits monthly or annually, you do not have to claim them - they should just show up on your account. If it isn’t showing up automatically, you may not have one of those memberships.
