Legend car, you can't had enough of it. each Defender had their owned character.

My second vehicle was a 1959 Series 2 SWB Landrover (purchased in the early 70s). It appeared to have had a rugged life and it was only just before scrapping it did we find the Snowy Mountains Authority stickers on the doors (under a "newer" paint scheme). Certainly explained its condition.

Yeah , the Early Diffs were a Rover CAR Diff . They were forever snapping Half-shafts . OR stripping Drive blocks . The Salisbury Diff was a VAST improvement .

What a great episode ! Always good to see a Defender on the road. Still on my second Discovery , now 20 yrs old and I'm hoping to convert it to EV in the distant future? I drive modern 4wds' for work . but none drive as well or feel the same as the Disco. Cheers Gregg.

Amazingly Spectacular! Thank you for sharing this video. Range Rovers & Land Rovers are a Class on their own! I own 3 Classic Range Rovers & two classic Jaguas in Port Moresby & in Madang, and need some work to get them going again. There is no other 4 wheel drive like Range Rovers! Greetings from Madang, Papua New Guinea!

I remember when we got the defenders in the Army, The brass were worried we wouldn't be able to drive the coil over setup without rolling.
@Motumatai36 ай бұрын
The trial version of the Perentie did actually have the front axle panhard rod in the wrong location, resulting in a propensity to roll if hitting a hole when turning left at speed. They moved the panhard rod across a tad and fixed that issue.
@bcgraham35126 ай бұрын
A friend of mine who lived in Kenya told me that when the Defenders with the coil-over arrived the roll-overs became a big thing, which they hadn't been with the old leaf-spring suspension. That was his excuse, anyway.

At 6:10 the wheel nuts are on backwards- the taper is supposed to go towards the wheel
@sharonpaterson-uu7bb6 ай бұрын
apparently the wheel nuts had a taper at each end
@alwynvanwyk18516 ай бұрын
My 1957 Series 1 107 SW and 1960 Series 2 88" has tapered edges on both sides of the wheel nuts... Easy beazy, no confusion, solid grip... Smaller nuts and studs though. To change rims with a newer model, you need the bigger nut with the same smaller hole... Crazy, the British 😂
@Poppageno5 ай бұрын
The early wheels take a double ended 15/16" lug nut, the newer ones use a 1-1/16" single sided nut. Good eye though!

Convincing a land rover owner that theyre 4x4 is unreliable is like trying to convince a flat earther that the earth is round

Well, there was a reason back then why Land Rovers weren’t trusted to get you safely home. And that reason is even more valid today! Great engineering ideas, awful execution.
