Working with James on a few projects on my channel, he's one of the nicest guys and funniest people I've met and its surreal to work with not only the pioneer of KZbin and the gaming industry today, but one of your inspiration and heroes as a teenager in high school. I would not have my job without James. A great talent and an amazing friend on my end. Great tribute.

He is the true king of youtube bi always took issue with ppl saying that pewdiepie was the king when he's not his content has always been mediocre James has always made great content his reviews have always not been the most funniest or filled with deep analytical criticism but he doesn't need that because he's funny and entertaining and his jokes really funny and he has good critiques
@Luka11803 жыл бұрын
@@ithinkihaveebola5238 At one point he was the most subscribed to person on the platform. 2006 or 2007-ish, until KZbin decided to stop promoting him on the front page because they thought he was too foul-mouthed. They wanted a replacement that was like him and they found him. Only thing, he was very, very VERY much like him. Not just in the foul-mouthedness... you probably know who i'm talking abou. I am glad Bores and Rolfe eventually burried the hatchet, but KZbin snubbing him like that was low.

Great video, I think you should of mentioned how Mike Matei pushed him in the early days to keep making videos, James was only going to do 1 until Mike kept pushing him to do more and was going to stop at 3. Mike also created the KZbin account in 2006, James wasn't even aware of it at the time. Once it started to get a bunch of views, James saw it and he was excited to make more videos. Mike also helped with scripts, the camera, and also sat down and played games with James so they could get material.
@VicJang5 жыл бұрын
Cinemassacre is stilling going strong to this date, but I think James and Mike deserve even more recognition than they do now. For quite a long time AVGN is the only reason I visit KZbin. James really is the godfather of modern gaming videos.

I first watched AVGN back in 2007 and thanks to him, I know what NES was. In my country, we never know what an NES, SNES and a lot of retro consoles before the PS1 era. Hell, back in 2003 when I got a GBA, I had one of those many games in 1 cartridges where there were 60 NES games and 4 GBA games. I find myself loving those NES games than the GBA ones. Like I said, I didn't know they were NES games until I watched AVGN.

When AVGN started, swearing was a non-issue, while nowadays you have to keep a checklist of banned words to not get demonitized/shadowbanned. How the times change.

I think it's stupid and Susan should be removed. Because it's clear that she's using KZbin's broken policies to censor people she doesn't like!

It was, yeah, but KZbin/Google always had kind of a problem with people doing it very early on. Even back when James was around. At one point he was the most subscribed to person on the platform. Definitely an awesome re’cap. “What about "'Recap"? Would you say "Re'cap"? Re'do, re'call, re'hire, re'group, re'appear, re'enact...why is it so strange to say 'review'? The prefix "re-" means to do again. You're viewing something again for comment. You re-view it.“

@SpazamsTV4 жыл бұрын
@@JHinsonMusic Oof to be honest i shouldn't of said "more well know" as that is untrue. I wasn't trying to say bigger then AVGN but instead i was trying to say he was infamous in the community & at one point in early 2008 was a few thousand subscribers away from AVGN. But i stupidly thought "more well know" was better. (also i find it funny that even tho i didn't say his name everyone knew i was talking about The Irate Gamer) {Edit}: I like that how in your response you further insult me by editing your own comment expecting me not to see it this to me proves how much of a weak minded coward you truly are.

James has gotten pretty tame over the past 5 or 6 years when it comes to his comedy. He doesn't get nearly as angry as he did in his early videos (2005-2010) and apparently he doesn't even write the episodes anymore. However, I still think the AVGN is a quality series and there have certainly been some great fucking episodes over the past couple years (probably ones where James had most of the creative control).

Usually some creators would hate that this song that was just a paycheck was more popular than the one they put their soul into. Or how this mass market trash they wrote sold more copies than the book that they consider to be their magnum opus. AVGN wasn't James' first project and at the time it wasn't the one he put the most effort into and he's really more of a movie guy but you never get the feeling that he hates AVGN's success or that AVGN episodes have less effort being put into them or that he wants people to watch his other stuff instead. He owns the success and channels the creative effort into AVGN. Some of his more recent episodes are way beyond the concept of what other video game channels do, which is just review and talk about games.
