How Bad is a Yellow Weather Alert in Iceland?

We had a good time at the icelandic phallalogical museum. You can even get a beer, wine, or coffee and walk around in there, and the beer names and tap handles are subject appropriate too!

In Iceland, a yellow weather warning mostly means that the weather will be crappy, not necessarily dangerous. An Orange weather warning is more serious, but a Red weather warning REALLY means business, meaning "stay indoors!" - unless you are an experienced local.

OMG you went up that boob-shaped art hill thing in that wind! I climbed it last November when I was in town and it felt precarious enough in good weather.

Haha it is boob-shaped isn't it? It really didn't feel safe. I'm glad the umbrella was already kind of gone. Else I would probably have blown away to sea like Mr. Poppins.

Karl that was a nice and informative video the wind there is no ioke. I remember there was a day there during my last trip where the weather was inclement and i decided that it would be a great time to explore the museums that day. I cannot wait for my next visit this August!

I got this yellow alert in Stokksnes. I loved! I'm windsurfing sailor, so it was outstanding to feel such powerful wind!

If there is a yellow weather warning in the Netherlands, it rains a little bit harder than usual or there is a chance of a thunderstorm (mostly these appear if there is no warning is issued), not a single reason to change any plans (An umbrella would do just fine). It would help if all countries scale their weather warnings in a similar way ;-)

We are camping for two weeks in July out of a car. Are there camping locations that are more protected from the wind, or do we have to find a room?

You should be fine as long as you stay put. If you are in campsite one, and want to go to campsite two. Check the weather first. If there is a strong wind warning, stay in campsite one until it is safe to drive. On very rare occasion you will need to find a room.

A common problem going to the islands is that the ferry sets of from either landeyarhöfn in good weather or from 100km away in bad weather. If at all. It makes for a terrible trip.

Do Icelanders even try to use umbrellas? If so, you should buy them buy them in large quantities (a case) given the wind. You mention the penis museum in several videos. They should pay you for the marketing/promotion.

No, Most don't bother with umbrellas. Good hoodie on your waterproof jacket is enough if you are going out. I'm going to start demanding free stuff like a proper diva once I start hitting 100k views 😅

You were right, the retracting of the Glaciers cause more Volcanic Activity, due to losing Pressure and Cooling effect. We need to Drill giant tunnels and create water flow through them, to cool the Crust, without causing the Volcano to Erupt due to our Experiment.
