Hey Shortcat, i have a challenge i would really like for you to try out "Can i win with the best kart from every mario kart game in MK8 Deluxe?" MK7: Metal Mario, B dasher, Hot Monster tires MK Wii: Either Daisy, Sport Bike and Slim tires(represents Daisy Mach Bike) or Funky Kong, Bone Rattler and GLA tires(Represents FK Bowser Bike) (The reason i recommend Daisy is because both FK and Daisy are the best characters on Wii with FK being picked more often online due to higher weight, but the Sport Bike is a literal import of the mach bike from Wii (as implied by its japanese name), so you get to play the best Wii bike with inside drift with this combo) MK DS: Dry Bones, Clown Cart, Standard tires (Its supposed to represent the Dry Bones + Yoshi Egg cart combo on DS!) MK Double Dash: Koopa Troopa/Bowser Jr, The Landship, Wood Tires (This is the closest to the Koopa Troopa + Bowser Junior on the train kart!) MK Super Circuit: Bowser, Pipe Frame, Standard tires MK 64: Yoshi/Peach/Toad(same stats in 64), Pipe Frame, Standard tires Super Mario Kart: Funky Kong/Diddy Kong, Pipe Frame, Standard tires (In SMK, the best character is Donkey Kong Jr, however they never brought back Donkey Kongs kid in any other MK games again! FK wears nearly the smae clothes though, or you can pretend diddy is his kid instead lol) All of these were picked by which combos had the most amount of records in time trials and from their online metas. The challenge is really fun, i hope you try it!

The problem with fixing trail items online really comes down to the attacker’s client, which will always want to register a hit as soon as the items connects (because play has to be quick). Furthermore, you’ll usually want to try and aim for people as a trail attacker. With your proposed fix, it sure would make it a lot less infuriating for the victim, but at the same time, that would also mean forcefully making trail items move “through” people as if they were ghosts on the attacker’s screen, which might look wrong sometimes, especially when actually aiming for people intentionally. Then the item would only get used up with some lag/delay after the victim’s game acknowledges the hit to the server. Even with good connections, this takes a while when moving network packets across the world! We obviously can’t trust the attacker’s client for the hit (as that’s the very thing we’re trying to fix), but it might be hardcoded (so it’s a difficult fix) and we obviously can’t give the item back either (in case it didn’t hit) as the attacker maybe started chaining already, after seeing the item in their slot go away. So it kind of feels like a really difficult problem to solve. As stupid as that feels, I really live under the impression that they did the best they could~ I’d be curious to see you (and maybe some other really good players) engage in some in-person tournaments via LAN play! It’s possible remotely via some proxy trickery (which I guess is good for eliminating disconnections for baggers), but I’m guessing there still will be lag unless everyone is physically brought to the same location under the same local network.

Petition for low weight stat to maje you float more in water sections and anti grav sections like big blue

Idea for a combo you could try sometime- a while ago you did max speed (dry bowser on the circuit special, slicks, super glider) but that combo is actually quite a bit slower in water and air speed. I’ve found a “balanced” max speed combo that has very high and perfectly equal stats in all four speed stats, Dry bowser/master cycle zero/crimson slims/hylian kite. Or any of their substitutes, but I like that combo for aesthetics. Compared to the actual fastest combo, while it has 3 points worse ground speed and one point worse antigrav speed, it has 3 points more air speed and a full 5 points more water speed. It’s slower overall than the max speed combo since ground speed matters the most, but more consistent, since it won’t lose any speed on water based tracks or ones with lots of gliders. It also has better mini turbo, acceleration, handling, and traction, making it feel better overall.

Everyone, I have figured out the exact weight of this combo The GLA is half a bar, or double the inkstriker. I searched it up and the average weight of a Mercedes Bend GLA-Class is 3551.5 pounds. The full weight of this combo is 1 and a half bars, 3 X the GLA. Doing the math we end up with a whopping 10654.5 pounds, over 5 tons. Note this may be outdated Edit: Wrong vehicle, it was actually the splat buggy. Only Lemmy produces weight so the weight is nearly half with 5327.25. Still a lot though

Hey Shortcat, I had a question about defensive play. Lets say, for example, I am holding a Super Horn and a Blue Shell pops up on the mini-map. But, before the blue shell reaches me, someone throws a red shell that will hit me before the blue shell does. Would you recommend using the horn to destroy the red shell or taking the red shell hit and using it on the blie shell? Any advice would be appreciated, I am on an Esports team and have been asked about this before.

I can only give you my best guess: it depends, as the time loss from a blue shell and red shell are about the same. - There are good and bad spots to get hit. For example if the red shell would hit you on a boost pad, you take the red shell. - If the blue shell is far enough back, you can horn the red shell and back out of 1st. - If 2nd place is far away, you can take the red shell, and then try to hit 2nd place with the super horn as you break the blue shell. - If you horn the red shell as late as possible, you may break the blue shell too. - If you take the red shell, you may slow down enough that your invincibility frames gets you through the blue shell too. There are probably more situations that could come up, and I wouldn't blame you for not thinking through all of this at once. But with all else being equal, in general I think you should horn the red shell. You never know what could happen later. Maybe a 2nd red shell shows up and cancels the blue (or the blue cancels the red). Maybe a shock cancels the blue. Maybe when the blue shell is about to hit, you can run into a track hazard or random banana on the ground. Maybe someone further back has to use a super horn in defence, and breaks the blue shell by accident. Maybe it lags and the blue targets someone else. These are all rare, but they could happen, so if the red shell is sure to hit you, then I say just horn it.
