Used to have an Antara, 4wd, great car, the only thing, was the dpf cleaning, used to take it down the motorway, kept in 4th gear to clean it. Never had the dpf light on in 3 year.

Sold in the United States first as a Saturn and after Saturn's demise as a Chevrolet which was originally sold only to rental and fleet buyers. We only got gasoline-powered 2.4L 4cyl and V6 models as well as a hybrid. Sold fairly well.

Your advert for VEHICLE SCORE I did my car which I’ve had from new with no expense spared and full service history but they gave it a dismal score , so I won’t be using them in future as they are very unrealistic checks ,sorry but the other vehicle checker is more reliable

I used to sell a lot on Antaras but I’ve stopped buying them, just too many headaches. Always popular tho.. The gear issue sounds similar to one I had, think we adjusted the linkages and was ok.

Antaras - I have been looking at a lot of these (on line) because they are cheap SUV's. The reason is that they are prone to very expensive drive train problems including transfer boxes, gear boxes and prop shafts. Clutches are very expensive to replace as well. Good luck. Decent engines just a bit too powerful for the drive trains.

Had an Antara in covid. 750. Got £2895. Think was only £600. Unreal covid month profits. Most are awful two I’ve had been great. I’m not buying a third. I already skirt around all Vauxs. Pretty much.

It's not my sister's old car phew. She had an Antara but had to get rid of it because it was becoming unreliable. She lives in Cornwall way out in the sticks and needs a reliable car to get to work. She now has a Dacia Duster.

Hateful cars. I had multiple issues until it finally shredded it's transfer box at 45k . £4k to repair VX paid just under half and I got rid as soon as it was fixed.

Thanks for a good video. Think vehicle score need to work on their software. Got a score of 2 with this SAAB 9-3 (LC56PWO) from Vehicle score. Mot till Oct next year with new brakes, tyres & everything working. A fiesta with no mot (VN54KMJ) scores 651? 15th November 2023

If the third brake light is DISCONNECTED, the MOT tester has to give the benefit of the doubt to the person putting the car in for the MOT I believe.

Antaras are cheap for a reason. Had one that consumed coolant and needed topping up daily but had no leaks or water in oil, so going out the exhaust. Probably internal engine/ turbo/ intercooler leak but where? Diagnostic and repair costs greater than value of car.

I ended up in county court over a land rover, luckily only small claims, which I lost, but yes you can easily end up in criminal court these days, I saw an article about a guy doing old vw campers, one was rusty (!) I mean what was it 1969(!)he got 6 mths jail time. This games so dodgy these days.

That's mental. When I've sold the ones I've had I've binned them off to trade or sold as seen as scrap for this reason, too many comebacks. Had one guy corner me in the street and call the Police because DVLA told him I hadn't returned the v5 and it had been 3 weeks - people expect perfection and things to be all instant.

I only go to Aston barclay bud, check as much as possible and these days go for fairly simple bread and butter cars, I keep looking at a freelander I bought 2 years ago, in limp mode, just parked up, tbh you seem to buy cars you like, BM, s and stuff like that, there the problem ones, it's just a product so I'd (and do now) go for plain and simple, I've been bitten so badly on complected stuff, nearly puts you out of business.

Worst one I got bitten on was a 730D a few years back. Purchased from trade, should of got suspicious as it was off site at his home address. He went and got it and after a test drive it seemed okay. Paid 6k cash and drove home, only to find once it got onto national limit roads the gearbox was all over the place and stopper changing. Turns out the torque converter on the box was shafted, no comebacks as it was a cash deal. Sold it two days later after being told a new one was 4k part alone, for 2k losing 4k. This is why I've said before Joe is a good decent guy, he doesn't try covering things up. I'd definitely take a trip and buy from him, as I'm not far away.

Quite simple prop shaft has been removed because Vauxhall Antara’s suffer really badly with rear differential problems, I’ve had one of these crappy cars and paid nearly as much to have it fixed as what the car was worth. They are 100% a pile of shit I took mine to Vauxhall and they even refused, saying that they didn’t have the parts and were unable to get them they even didn’t want the work and that’s a mainstream Vauxhall garage. It was the last Vauxhall ever bought and it will continue to ever be the last Vauxhall I will ever own terrible cars. I feel your pain they are a money pit I guarantee you will spend more on it than what the car is worth

These cars are well known for having a very weak four wheel drive system and a four wheel drive gearbox is very very expensive, there is a bearing in the 4x4 diff which collapses which makes the diff explode. I made a video of how to disconnect the drive to the rear free of charge or at very little cost and makes it more economical to run.
