I use this all the time. I'm new to your channel, so you may have covered this, but in UADs DAW 'LUNA' you can mix through a Studer Tape/API vision strip built into each channel then all your busses have API summing and API 2500 buss compressors built in. Apart from a Reverb send, you don't really need any plugins.

i was mixing with PA SSL 9000, which is really nice, but damn....just did a comparisson in a whole already mixed song, and this one is a beast! not so flexible as the SSL, but who cares? I value more is the sound we can get just cranking the preamp alone e some brush moves on eq, and the EXP/gate module is great to tight things, comp is very usefull, pay attention to the att different times, fast is splashy dirtier, slow mode is very very punch and clean, just set to a couple 3db and it really does something to bring mid lows front!

@@_xXx_YT disagree. I’ve tested them side-by-side and the Lindell is fantastic. They have different qualities. I would give the UAD a half a point more for a slightly more “open” sound. But for spank? They’re both spot on.

@@_xXx_YT I don't doubt you. I guess my point is that most plugins today are doing a very fine job. As someone who grew up in the analog world and is now ITB, I think the differences are negligible. (In most cases). And of course some of this is personal taste. I sometimes find API too tight and will go with a Helios or Neve, etc. But that's the beauty of it. We literally have millions of dollars of equipment for hundreds now. And sure, some plugins will get you closer to the 5% MDN is always on about. Have you compared AA against UAD? Just curious.

I love this channel strip. Been thinking of doing a mix with this channel strip, API bus comp, and P455 by Pulsar Modular. Definitely took advantage of UA’s recent sale and plugin alliances as well.

Your comment on "it only really reminded me of the hardware when the +18 light was flicking on" reminded me of a really interesting video I watched recently. kzbin.info/www/bejne/d3zMopedfNydjZIsi=bOrlsiU0dhR3SV_L The TL;DW is that analog emulation plugins vary wildly as to what their VU signal level is calibrated at .. even in plugins from the same manufacturer at times. So the accepted wisdom of gain staging to 0 on -a 18 calibrated VU meter into analog emulation plugins is actually not the best way to go. I checked my own analog plugin collection using a tone generator and their internal VU meter and that zero point varied all the way from -20 to +4

@@ApexArtistX ahhh….but we do reviews not demos. Think of a film review without clips of the film…same thing. Adding compressed audio demos with no point of reference is just misleading. Most plugin demos on KZbin are a full track or loop (already processed) being shoved through said plugin. Download a trial is our mantra 👍

I have this , but only use the Softube American Classic since I got it. Have not compared sound directly but the user interface is just so much nicer on the softube plug. Plus it has built in transient shaper and some other features.

You can wait for them to go on sale for $29.99 or Buy the whole UAD Signature Edition on sale for $299. I'm waiting for my next interface upgrade to though. My iD22 is holding up nicely. But will upgrade to either a: -Zen Q by Antelope -Ensemble Desktop by Apogee -Babyface by RME or -Apollo Twin X by UAD.... Choices..choices... and uad already comes with some plugins
