That Hornets team was horrifically bad, and it wasn't because of him. He actually had some flashes of great play during the season (12 20+ point games and a 30 point game), which wasn't terrible for a rookie, especially in that era of slower paced/lower scoring ball. But his career was effectively ended by that knee injury before his second season, and you have to wonder if his diabetes made it impossible to fully recover from it.

Considering he had type 1 diabetes, it’s insane he even made it that far to begin with. Especially on a sport that is cardio demanding. I really wish we would've gotten to see Morrison's sophomore season without the injury. IIRC he was averaging like 15-16 ppg his rookie season but then fell off after the 2nd half. Part of the issue might have been adjusting to the pace/rigor of an NBA season as a diabetic. He couldn't really afford to lose any athleticism and it also likely recked his confidence. Kobe seemed to like the guy and while he might've just been trying to be nice it sounded like Ammo played better at practice.

But this video illuminates his immense prosperity in college and spiraling downfall in the NBA. Only wearing three shirts???? The guy could be clinically depressed or suicidal even! And in a setting where pressure and stakes are a practically an all-time high, it doesn't make it easier. Then of course you add in the T1D and the ACL injury and he's just doneskis. This is the first time I have watched your channel, but I found the commentary to be top-notch. I must say, though, that you stepped on your foot at the end, and said that you can’t imagine an ideal venue for this player, but the European leagues are the exact opportune place for somebody like this. Aside from that you did an excellent job and I thoroughly enjoyed this video. Thanks for the upload.

The thing people often forget about busts is that they were once by far the best player on the court for many years in their youth. He made his money. He owes no one anything. Just hopes he takes a shower soon.... smell here from here. 😂
@kdburner7356
@kdburner7356 Жыл бұрын
Eh it’s not that people forget, it’s just that they don’t really care. Players get labeled a bust for not meeting the expectations of the NBA, as in they can’t keep up with the rest of the league. What they do in their youth is irrelevant. I do agree that it’s a silly label though, I’d love to be a “bust” if it means I get tens of millions of dollars😂

I can imagine having to force a grown man to take a shower. I used to work with a dude who was super gross. Our management had to sit him down multiple times and talk to him about his hygiene- a grown man who more than once had to be told he needs to wear clean clothes and shower and wash his hair. Eventually I became a project manager and the first thing my boss did was to make our stinky employee my problem lol. I really never had a problem talking to any of our people about work related issues and I was pretty good at it and well liked and trusted by everyone who worked under me but talking to an adult about his BO and greasy hair and biological weapon level breath is super uncomfortable. This dude also missed work and had to be hospitalized one time for getting a norovirus that is most commonly the result of ingesting fecal matter. This is after we had told him many times to wash his hands after he used the bathroom. The guy was like 29 years old and I had to tell him basic rules of life like “here is my system that has never failed me- pants you can sometimes get a few wears out of as long as they don’t have stains or wrinkles but the big 3 you must change every single day are socks, underwear, undershirt… you gotta start with a clean pair everyday” This is shit most people learn as small children lol

Yeah for some people hygiene just isn’t important. I don’t know if it’s being self centered, not being taught well as a kid or being neurodivergent. It’s a hard topic to bring up and the way you tell your story makes you a kind person. Not berating but giving lessons on what works for you.

11ppg on below average efficiency in a rookie season is so common for a lot of players who turn into good/solid NBA players. He obviously wasn't gonna be a star or maybe even a starter, you can see just from the highlights he struggled physically and speed wise, but I don't see why he couldn't have become an okay shooter off the bench. Shame what happened

Look, whether he brushed his teeth or washed his ass means nothing. The problem with Adam was he was listed as a small/power forward at 6’8 205 tops. He was playing against other smalls like Paul George, Paul Pierce, Carmelo Anthony who are 6’7 to 6’9 245 average. Power forwards like Kevin Love Dirk Noviski (excuse my spelling) who are 6’11 245 if not more. Adam was too small got pushed around and played out of position. He should’ve been a 2 guard.

By most accounts he is a weird dude, but he was 2nd or 3rd pick in the draft as i recall. so got a nice initial contract ($16m). Averaged around 12ppg his first year, then blew out his knee. He was never the same after that. He was smart enough however to wisely invest most of his earnings so is living a very comfortable life of leisure in Eastern Washington and will never have to work another day in his life. Has two championship rings to boot, and will even get NBA pension as well.

Great video! I've always thought if he had come into the league a decade later and found a better fit, a guy his size who could shoot could easily find the floor on a good team's bench. I also think he just didn't have enough life experience or maturity for when he entered the NBA. Spokane is a super white town. Like you said, he had never left i, clearly had some personal hurdles to get through with not showering and just likely did not fit in much. That being said, had he not got injured, it sounded like he matured a lot. He was one of the few teammates Kobe really respected because of his work ethic, he just didn't have enough after his injury.

@Tee Ohbee not true at all. I can always admit when I'm wrong and apologize. I'm not someone bent on ego. For example, if you look in the right places, you'd see I was wrong on both Trey Young and Luka, I still don't know how Luka is so good. He's slow and unathletic, but he gets it done. I was wrong about Blake Griffen. I thought he was a glorified stromile swift (y'all probably don't know him), wrong about Darius Miles, wrong about Steph Curry, I was initially wrong about Ben Simmons, and now I'm right.
