The shuttlecock itself is human’s important cultural heritage that’s been shared worldwide. So nice to know there’s quality control in the manufacturing process. Only in big tournaments the shuttles are damaged and replaced after few rallies but in recreational plays, we normally use it longer, don’t we. Nevertheless duck feathers, cork etc are sustainable materials - not to worry - just ask the ducks to grow the feathers more next time.

Hi I’m a girl learning to play badminton! Any tips?
@akaRicoSanchez5 жыл бұрын
It's often better to play around opponents rather than through them. Hold the racket lightly, tighten your grip only at the moment of impact. The closer you are from the net, the lesser you need to use your body: in the back court you use your shoulder elbow forearm wrist and fingers to strike, at the net you just use your fingers. Realize that, other than the serve, all shots made by your opponent are based on the way you send the shuttle to the other side of the net. Your opponent can never smash if you never lift the shuttle, your opponent can never play fast if you play slowly, etc. Don't run around, move around and keep your balance. Go back to the base position after every shot, in time for your opponent's next shot, ready to move to the shuttle. Smooth and well timed movement allows for great court coverage. At beginner level, girls tend to find it difficult to keep good length on their shots. Once you are able to find good length yourself, a good strategy is to play to the back court until your opponent plays too short, giving you the opportunity to attack. At intermediate level, girls tend to have most difficulty with court coverage. If you can cover your court well and your opponent can't, no need to take risks, just play steadily to the 4 corners, exposing your opponent's weakness. Most players find it difficult to have good length and good control with the backhand from the back of the court. Good players are those who move well enough to hardly play any backhands or have very good backhands. The former being more common than the latter, point constructions that force your opponent to play with their backhand are often good ways to get outright mistakes or scoring opportunities... Well that ended up longer than expected...
