She is so smart. No, she is so intellectual. This comment she made that you cite above makes me think back to a video I watched recently where FDR and Churchill are standing together on the White House porch. It is Christmas Eve, 1941. They are giving a joint radio address to the American people. This is a couple weeks after Pearl Harbor, so now both countries are in the throes of war. FDR, nevertheless (and Churchhill concurs), feels that the people not only need to hear celebratory words on this night, but all need to celebrate that next day to the fullest, especially the children. So, he gives such a speech. FDR's mindset about the country's temperament was the same as First Lady Obama's is. Two brilliant minds on the same accord.

Seeing Michelle Obama is bittersweet because I remember how _hated_ she was, for absolutely no intelligent reason. When Michelle started talking about carrying the world on her shoulders during her 8 years as first lady, I felt like I really understood how difficult her life was day to day in the White House. She always speaks honestly, but I felt like her story of breaking down into tears after leaving the Capitol and describing the enormous pressure of having to make sure her every word and action was carefully considered revealed a truer and more vulnerable side of her than I have ever seen on television. Michelle is truly a remarkable lady and she deserves to be out of the spotlight living a normal life for as long she desires. ❤️

I read her book. It left me despondent because of the current state of our union. Here is a kind, humble, highly educated woman & a lawyer, who mentored & married our future president. The proposal is perfect when you learn how much they share the same vision, see each other for who they are & are each other’s biggest cheerleader! When I think of that historic inauguration I am overcome with pride of country, hope, love & joy. I believe those 8 years were so necessary. Something new. Different than the pictures of the past presidents. A first family to respect & admire. A president who was calm, collected & careful of his decisions. It’s all gone. This must have been what it felt like on November 22, 1963. Complete disbelief, despair & overwhelming shame for what we’ve become & what we’ve allowed to happen. Make America Grateful Again!
