Allegedly, it seems that not paying his taxes properly that organization allegedly entitled them to prevent him from using his own voice if he could Not pay that bill. That is how it was told.in the media . REMARKABLY, AT THAT VERY SAME TIME THE GREAT BARRY WHITE brought his SEXY, DEEP VOICE ON THE SCENE N ROCKED THE' WORLD' !!!! Then also a thinker, Issac Hayes started the celebrity' DJ on the radio phenomena that others have followed. Moreso, Issac Hayes became a VERY' well known and beloved Actor on the big screen," I' m gonna hit you sucka", "Truck Turner" and possibly " Original Gangstas" with the great Jim Brown and on some TV shows. Back in the day when I was trying get next to a girl I liked, I wasn’t concerned about Luther’s sexuality, I just liked the mood that his voice and music created. All I needed was my “Hoopty”, a bottle of “Swiss Up” and a “fine sister” and some 🎵 Barry, Luther and “Smokey” music playing, and it let the fun begin!!! I don't know about the rest of the Black people who watched this, but those statements are a crazy disrespectful in my opinion and thumbing the video down. i was working the Diana Ross benefit tour(2000?) and met Luther during one of her performances in Philly. After the show,Luther said, wanna meet Diana? The rest is a historical visit, with Ms.Ross in her dressing room.! She must have thought Luther and I were childhood friends, she was so attentive to me during that tour, that everyone seemed to notice it,she even had her chef Robbie cook for my step parents in miami...too many stories to tell...Luther was a regular guy.

Clive Davis saw the desperation in Luther's eyes to become a lead singer and that's when Clive's manipulation began

This "Inside The Industry" video is misleading, to say the least! It spoke not one word of the "warnings" that Barry White supposedly offered Luther Vandross!!!

@@johnbarnett4036 "Subliminal warnings" and reading between the lines ain't getting it for me, neither was I expecting to do one or the other as it relates to this video! I was expecting CONCRETE FACTS and QUOTES coming from Barry White's mouth! The people behind the video call themselves "Inside The Industry" and I was expecting the "Inside-Scoop!" It was all a conniving game, just like the majority of the videos on KZbin: a lot of sensationalistic titles to get ratings and they offer very little, if anything in return!

I believe that Luther's fear of owning his sexual identity during the 80s was largely due to the experiences that informed his views. Black people knew Sylvester was openly gay and threw mad support his way. We showed up for all of his concerts and bought his albums. Many of us in the hood, especially the ladies, knew Luther was gay. And even still, we bumped his music like it was an addiction!✊🏿💯

Luther Vandross signed to Epic Records in the early 80s, not J Records. Clive Davis was the boss at Arista Records, so this information is not chronologically correct. J Records was created in 2000.

The only thing that matters is the music Luther made, he was indeed " the voice of a generation" who to this day is still sorely missed and so is the great Barry White, sadly that era of music is gone but never forgotten by those of us who were blessed to have witnessed it...
