I must say that Luther Vandross’s sexual orientation was his business as far as I am concerned, but his music transcended all of that! Back in the day when I was trying get next to a girl I liked, I wasn’t concerned about Luther’s sexuality, I just liked the mood that his voice and music created. All I needed was my “Hoopty”, a bottle of “Swiss Up” and a “fine sister” and some 🎵 Barry, Luther and “Smokey” music playing, and it let the fun begin!!! I appreciate this video which has given me just a small look behind the scenes about what these artists had to endure back then. Very enlightening, thank you! RIP Barry and Luther. 🙏🏾💐✊🏾✌🏾

Had women been ridiculed by their men , boyfriends , brothers , fathers for sweating over a homosexual man sleeping and singing to other men is an abomination hoax and slap in the face contradictional lie .... sales would've went down dramatically or come to a stop by 50% in a short period !
@NelsonStJames

@@darkgableco.7237 Yeah I think you're right. A completely different situation to someone like Freddie Prince who's fame didn't come from their sex appeal to their female fans. Anyone who didn't know Luther and Clive were gay just wasnt paying attention. Now to the important stuff. The first time I heard Luther sing was in the eighties when he dropped "Never Too Much" That voice was pure velvet gold. May God rest his soul and let us thank him for all his great music. Rest in peace Luther! 🙏🏻❤️🕊️

@@johnbarnett4036 "Subliminal warnings" and reading between the lines ain't getting it for me, neither was I expecting to do one or the other as it relates to this video! I was expecting CONCRETE FACTS and QUOTES coming from Barry White's mouth! The people behind the video call themselves "Inside The Industry" and I was expecting the "Inside-Scoop!" It was all a conniving game, just like the majority of the videos on KZbin: a lot of sensationalistic titles to get ratings and they offer very little, if anything in return!

I loved them both! Barry was so right and so smart to take his talent and control his own career. I'm from the music industry and I know first hand how unfair, greedy and disgusting it could and can be. Some of us aren't stars because we weren't good enough, it's because we were to moral and decent to except the insulting crap. So many of us became the backing voices, musicians, songwriters & studio singers folks saw & heard. I met Luther on tour and he was so nice to us, that made me love him even more! (NOTE: the video shows a completely different singer on stage in a clip at 11:54)

Am not surprised about Barry White's advice, he came across as a wise responsible human being that you can trust for advice and guidance. RIP Barry White and Luther Vandross, who are we to judge, the lord 🙏 said if anyone of you have never communicated sin let him be the first to throw the stone and they all left one by one, because nobody is perfect and without sin. May the Almighty God 🙏 bless you all Amen.

I hate that Luther was gay, because I don't want his soul lost forever. But that fact of his sexuality has no bearing on the great talent he was. I still play his music to this day and I have every album. No one measures up to the quality of his ballads. Luther was one in a million and will always be missed. He didn't have to cuss or talk under the clothes to make a fire ballad.

Clive Davis was a horrible person. A perfect example of those who wield too much power. What he did to other talented artists is disgraceful. Phyllis Hyman and Angela Bofill were two well-known victims of his games. The rampant greed and corruption of the music industry and the unbalanced amount of power in the hands a few is what led to the end of the careers of so many talented artists. What is so ironic is that today, there are so many in the industry who are sorely lacking in talent and yet seem to thrive. I guess the bar is set really low these days.

Patti LaBelle said at about 13:30-minutes and seconds in to the video that Vandross did not want his mother to know that he was gay.So he respected his mother and nothing is wrong with that ?Wendy Williams said in the video at about 13:35 to 13:40 in the video that Vandross never came out of the closet.The man that is doing the commentary for this commentary for this video said that it was widely known that Luther Vandross was gay.What he died from is exactly what was reported and that his is weight problem.We would see published pictures of him large in size and then pictures of him when he lost weight this would go back and fought for years.Luther Vandross was one of our best entertainers of the Soul Music era.The last 5 minutes of this video certainly ended with the entertainers that had the good sense to see that.May he R.I.P.
