As a reminder, this movie was set in the mid 1950s, where a dollar was worth about 10x what it is now. So Batman's 70K is really 700K by our standards.

In the book they explained this by saying Hitler had possession of the spear of destiny, a powerful magical artifact that acted as a deterant to prevent the hero's from joining the war. I'm the end, it was soldiers that won the day which led to the public shifting away from hero worship and with assistance from the red scare, made the hate them. The jsa was forced to disband, the magical community either retired or left earth and the two strongest icons, superman and wonder woman, became agents of the us government. Batman became an outlaw and task force x (the suicide squad) was formed to ward of supervillians.

He really just relies on the fact they don’t want to kill him but he wouldn’t mind mortally wounding them, or the fact that they aren’t too threatened by him but the fact he knows your weakness is pretty terrifying when nobody else does. Superman could literally toss Batman into space before he could ever react, kill him from a city away with a heat beam the possibilities are endless, same with Flash he could drop Batman off at the end of time pull his heart out.... Grab him run not shield him with speed force and he be ripped apart Wonder Woman can out fight him and is stronger. We're talking crush bones with every blow times stronger. Black Widow would never best Sentry, Hyperion or Gladiator 3 Marvel equals or Superiors of Superman. That's all Batman is Black Widow without the tits. That is what he amounts too because if you gave her his gadgets and money what would be the difference! I'm not talking about one kills one doesn't. I'm saying from a skills and mortal stand point. I feel the reason Batman intimidates some of his fellow heroes isn't because they fear pain or anything, they have villains who try and kill them all the time. It's that Batman will do everything and anything to make good on his word. His tenacity is what gives his promises and threats power.

New Frontier. Very good book turned into a good animated film. I absolutely love it. I know many don’t because they’ve been spoiled by films like Dark Knight Returns and the New 52 films but I think this is one of the best. Jeremy Sisto is a good Batman and it’s been 13 years but I wanted to see him in more Batman media.

This reimagining of the 50's era DC universe is really well done, right down to those proper mid Atlantic accents and frames of reference. Also the choice to NOT use Kevin Conroy for the voice was a good one. While he is fantastic and the gold standard, this batman like the first incarnations in DC is a far darker, far less inhibited warrior. He really has no qualms about severely injuring or even killing foes, which is anathema to Conroys batman.

This was one of their greatest animated movie. Not only does it take them to the gold-silver age of comics. But it gives Batman enough screen time so that he’s not stealing the spotlight from the heroes. But also giving him a good amount of the spotlight as well. I really enjoyed this movie!!

This movie is a really good distillation of Cooke's sprawling epic (making the Centre a more, um, central threat was a great choice; as well as having Batman be part of the final battle), but I wouldn't mind seeing a somewhat more faithful adaptation that allows us to spend more time with certain characters who are reduced to cameos here.

One detail I love about Batman in this film is that he changes the design of his costume near the end of the film, to make it look more friendly, trusting and heroic and the best part is because his old costume scared a boy, a boy who reminded him of how he felt in that alley that night, watching him lose his parents, being alone and afraid.

The terror on J'onn face when he mentions the 70k piece of kyrptonite leads me to believe he knows superman is a Kryptonian and that humans are buying and selling the pieces of his dead planet 😨

What year is this set in? Looks like the 30s or 40s. Nevermind I remember this movie. I was scared after watching this movie I was only 9 when it came out. It was the darkest movie I've ever watch at the time.

except Wonder Woman has killed explicitly in the main comic continuity plus their "no kill" rule is pretty arbitrary and it changes on how sentient the lifeform in question is and how humanoid etc etc
