Actually, Darkseid had a small victory there that most people don't realize. Darkseid is the Idea of Evil, the Prototype as described by Plato's Theory of Forms. Darkseid is the dark thoughts in all men's minds. When you act on greed, selfishness, rage, when you victimize, brutalize, and extort others, you are enacting Darkseid's will. That is Darkseid's victory over you. Even though he lost, by the very fact that Batman used the threat of genocide as a deterrent to achieve victory meant that Darkseid still "won". If that doesn't make sense to you, don't forget that Darkseid is an eldritch abomination that lives in a realm outside and surrounding the multiverse and has 16 divine senses. What we see onscreen or on a page is merely what we can comprehend. Darkseid IS.

Superman and Batman always try to pull each other out of whatever darkness they are in. Sometimes they are unable to but they will always do their damnedest to save one another. It's more than just simple trust, it is complete faith in one another. If they are unable to save themselves, the other will do it.

In their best incarnations, Superman and Batman are treated as best friends and two sides of the same coin, and both see the other as their inspiration to keep trying and to keep doing better. Superman sees Batman's adamantine will and his refusal to ever give up, and trusts Batman as the one to always keep Superman from losing control. Batman sees Superman's optimism and desire to keep the peace as a happier version of his own worldview, and does what he can in the shadows to keep that light strong, so that no one else suffers through the same fate that he went through. They may have diametrically opposed power sets, but they both need the other to become the best that they can be.

The true form of Darkseid is much larger than that... kinda like an "Essence"... a literal god entity that has no physical form. A terrible tragedy happened to him but instead of letting the situation control him, he got up, stopped whining and took control of the situation and set meaningful goals for himself. Batman can own anything and everything and yet he chooses to spend his money on charity and on his mission as Batman to rid the world of crime sacrificing his body, health, joy and peace in the process. He is our collective rage at injustice and oppression. He is a man searching the dark alleys of his mind to bring balance to an unjust world. He is a social activist. When we step back to gaze long upon the great Batman tapestry, when we look for the common thread woven through it by Kane, Finger, Fox, O’Neil, Englehart, and that endless line of creators, those who have come and gone as well as those who are still weaving, what do we see? We see a hero. We see someone we’d want on our side, a figure we’d love to call forth from our shadows and hurl at those who would do us wrong. We see that part of ourselves that wants to scare all of life’s bullies away, and we like it. He is driven. He is like a revolutionary who stands up to tyrants or the activists who fight against great odds to make this world a better place. Out of tragedy, great good can arise.

Batman turns the tables with an overwhelming amount of plot armor
@SFgamer3 жыл бұрын
No. It's not plot armor, like most of you assume. Every protagonist has some level of plot armor. In his case, it's his cunning.
@teod12983 жыл бұрын
@@SFgamer Nah, it's plot armor. That's why people who can turn batman into mush with 0 effort has to be nerfed physically and intellectually during any theoretical match up with him. It's why Superman has to go up close to fight him when honestly he could fly up and just zap batman down immediately. It's why every time theres a Batman vs Ironman thread, Ironman suddenly decides to stay grounded to allow himself to get hacked or whatever when he's constantly depicted in the air during fights. Simply put Batman just has a superhuman ability to turn everyone he fights into idiots.

The writing for Batman is inconsistent to say the least. I'd say generally Wonder Woman is a darker character as she has no problem killing people when needed but Batman is usually portrayed as not willing to go there.

Yeah, in Injustice Comic Series he states that 'it is what keeping us sane and different from them, without self-rules it all become meanings-less
@bricefoxx34023 жыл бұрын
I think the made argument that he is largely inconsistent due to writers and who he is beating is well a not very solid argument. Though I agree as for any character(Including The Batman) when a different writter picks up a character it will differ from others which may land in inconsistency;However, batman is always protrayed as someone with limits that can use the better of his knowledge and skill to win even fight he physically can't win and could never win. Batman can and has always been a person who can read people and planned for the worst including in himself. Especially our Bruce , so while the inconsistency exists no character especially FLASH 😂 is excluded and doesnt make them any less cool. As for WW being the darkest leauger? I would disagree to a point. The amazons in general have a kinda dark history more or less just on the fucked up side lol and she has some issues where it's "dark" but a large bit of them imo are just boring despite her warrior culture and the acceptances in killing.
@seandabest43293 жыл бұрын
There are plenty of Superheroes who kill, but aren't considered killers. Captain America, Wonder Woman, Thor, etc. With them however, they aren't as steeped in the dark as Batman is, so are much more capable of judging the situation fairly at all times. Batman, however, is ruled and governed by his personal trauma. He sacrificed any chance at a normal life when he made Bruce Wayne his persona, and Batman his true nature. He knows that if he kills, the trauma that drives him will prevent him for being able to correctly judge the situation in future scenarios. The killing in itself isn't what makes a superhero dark. But their general attitude, methods and personal convictions around such a deed determine if it's something they should ever do.
@snakevenom49543 жыл бұрын
@@bricefoxx3402 The Amazonians are very dark. They climb onboard of any ship crossing by, have sex with the men, and then slaughter the crew and sinking the boat. If they give birth to a male, they kill the male off and only the women survive. It’s a stupid rule and personal trauma shouldn’t be a reason to kill innocent boys. Had they kept the boys I’m sure the women on the island would’ve found their lives to be a lot happier
@snakevenom49543 жыл бұрын
@@seandabest4329 I never understood the no killing rule. Call me dark minded or whatever but there are scenarios where you need to take matters into your own hands. Especially when innocent lives are at risk. Had Batman killed the joker after a certain point, hundreds if not thousands of lives would’ve been saved. But Batman chose the Joker over the lives of the innocent. I see it this way and I would blame Batman for not making the choice. Batman wouldn’t be like the street thugs or any other criminal. He’s not doing it for personal gain. He’s doing it to save the lives of other people. That is why I think Batman is flawed
