I would argue that the rotating face actually might help on the extreme line as it provides friction against the bit's rotation, as it rotates to possibly cushion the bit and X-line teeth from the sudden force when meshing by letting the main weight, the blade, be disjointed from the rotation of the bit, with the ratchet providing most of the friction with its racheting against the bit.
