This song was dope, I don't give a damn. Sometimes you have to remind people who you are when they forget. I find it funny that no one has an aversion to a man calling himself "The greatest!" "The best that ever did it!" "The best rapper alive!" "The Rap God!" "King of Pop or R&B!" or "King of the South!" However, as soon as a woman says to bow down, she needs to humble herself or show some humility. Puhleeze, Rihanna has a song where she's says over and over again that she's a "Rockstar!" Nobody told her that her head was too big for claiming that. Whether you like her or not, nobody can deny that Bey earned her titled, she definitely worked for it.

The moment there finally is diversity with more black female artists making it big she puts out Bow down? Why is it wrong for there to be more black female artists at the same time as Beyonce?

Beyoncé was smart to include "Bow Down" on "Flawless". Self-Titled was a self-empowerment album yet vulnerable in some areas. Beyoncé stopped with the "we" and "all the women" or "Ladies" in her songs and started saying "I". That's why Self-Titled worked. This album was more personal, more experimentative, more about Beyoncé. People connected to how she was feeling on this album and that feeling of being connected to her continued with Lemonade. Her wanting to make music out of her norm is the best thing she's probably ever done. She can do whatever and we'll eat it up. She has us in the palm of her hands.

I was never mad at Bey for putting out this track, sometimes you got to say something to let people know who the hell you are. If people in the industry felt offended it’s because they may have had insecurities of their own and felt there is an element of truth in Beys message.. she really and truly is a queen. It’s not just about her music, it’s her aura and how she carries herself, how she cancels out any noise and puts her energy into music gracefully.. her shift from the usual commercial sound was also a shock to me as well, but looking back at it now, I completely understand and agree with how she became more edgy. When you hit mainstream/commercial success and become at your peak in that lane.. then what’s next? She wanted more, and I don’t blame her! Her craft is meant to be something she loves and something to have fun with. This woman is well and truly a boss!

You're right about being psychologically healthy. But there's also nothing wrong with "falling off" either. Desperately trying to cling on to a title for too long is unhealthy...we cannot always be at the top of our game all the time. Some day Beyonce won't be up there anymore, and that's okay. It's life. Lol. When Beyoncé said "bow down, bitches", what made people think she was talking to just women or trying to pull other women down? I don't understand people thinking that because a woman is all for women empowerment, they can't go toe to toe with other women or they have to hold hands and sing kumbaya with other women for the rest of their life. Beesh, I said women empowerment and liberation, not women infantilism. Beyoncé can hype herself up and ask B's to bow down and give her her flowers without her being a 'hypocrite'. Beyoncé also said "male and female, they make no difference, I stop the world". So whatever sex you are, bow down, b*tches. Women are not the only ones that can be referred to as Bs.

Self titled and Lemonade were AUTHENTICALLY Beyonce. Her previous albums were amazing, but they didn’t showcase Beyonce as a person like these two albums. Just Beyonce the star. They were both perfect albums to have her musical era come to a close with and really shows her personal evolution, strength, and power through her career and life. The fact it had so many people feeling a way because she was finally unapologetically being herself is crazy. Self titled really inspired my confidence as a woman when it came out. Seeing her be unapologetic for being who she is made me want to do the same. The only people who would be offended are those who are triggered by their own feelings of inadequacy. She is not responsible for how people respond to or interpret her music.
@crystalsuitt89953 жыл бұрын
Yes she is kinda responsible because it's her work she's the artist so she has to paint a picture of her lyrics to us so we can respond and interpret her music the way she wants us to.

My thoughts exactly. I didn’t find it offensive at all, seemed more empowering then anything. Someone feeling offended by you empowering yourself is crazy to me…but whatever, 🙄 people always going to have a problem with someone feeling themselves. IMO just get on the train and enjoy that damn ride. Might learn a thing or two…🤷♀️

Welp kinda proves Bey's point lol. Haters and jealous people and I love all the other ladies but why did they take it personally I don't get it. We as listeners interpreted it the way Bey described it and yes we felt gangster and that song still works when it's one of those days where you are in that eff you mood lol. Just like Lil Kim songs. The music if for us listeners not for her colleagues, they should focus on their own art.

You can critique art though. I think nowadays artists don’t expect to be criticized when that’s not how art works you will always have critics that’s part of the industry. Beyoncé didn’t go with her ego and start feuds with critics like many artists today do. Let people talk and move on that’s the best you can do. Creating art that leads to discussions is actually a good thing.
@shaemus33833 жыл бұрын
This is very incorrect. Many many musicians write songs for themselves and it’s about their own emotions and feelings. Some songs are purely written for fans but most song writers, write about their situations and what they feel and want to express not what they’re fans want to hear lol especially when you’re as famous as Beyoncé and don’t have to constantly pander to your audience.

Beyonce's album 4 was truly slept on and I think her best vocally. Its a masterpiece. There many slept on albums by really good artists but that album was beyond amazing. She used her voice in so many intricate ways, sung so many notes, doing so many runs, going from mezzo soproano to High Soprano in full voice, then down to Alto 2. Her falsettos were amazing and the richness superb. Not many classical vocalists can even compare to Beyonce's range on this album. Its amazing and deserves more praise.

Impactful women are hardly ever kindly received when making moves that shift the status quo. It takes a strong, fearless woman to make a plan and act on it and Beyoncé did just that. She knew what she wanted her future to look like and was brave enough to take the risk to get there. The industry didn’t like it at first, but look at them now….bowing down lol. Believe in yourselves ladies. Bold moves take brave hearts. Eventually, the world will catch up. We must support in each other and believe in ourselves.
