same way DACA works. Congress isn't going to pass a law to make things difficult for the husbands and wives of their voters and the courts twice stopped Trump from ending DACA twice on technicalities. (The process they said he would have to go through takes well over a year, including a time period where the people write public comments

At the very least skip to the part of how this program works to get an explanation before commenting in the future. The program is basically allow an undocumented spouse of a USA citizen can remain in the country while paperwork is being processed. Congress hasn’t pass some immigration bills since the 1980s. Just recently Trump prevented an immigration deal from happening so he could win the election. Americans should pressure the next administration to pass a comprehensive immigration bill instead of always sending money to foreign wars.

@@adambram Hate to break it to you, but Trump supporters aren't the ones throwing political opposition in prison and seeking to bring charges against their enemies for literally anything they can conjure up all the while increasing the power of the federal gov't to hitherto unprecedented levels while shaming everyone who doesn't vote for him as a bad person. Taken on a case by case basis, it’s fairly easy to identify fraudulent weddings. If you’ve been living together for years and have kids it’s not fraud.

Mf how does this affect you personally? Shoot, this means companies are gonna be forced to pay legal wages and your roads are gonna be safer knowing people are gonna have legal access to drive… I mean isn’t the opposite side of this matter ok with immigrants who became citizens through a legal process? This is exactly that… If anything why put all your tax dollars towards deportation? I mean if you deport pablo, whose been here for 10 years, has a family, good income, and a good registry of paid taxes via his ITIN or Tax Id, you think he isn’t just gonna come back next week using the same method?

What about the documented dreamers who are stuck in green card backlog? My son came here when he was 6 months old and I am still patiently waiting for my green card. My son would soon age out. Why doesn’t Biden administration giving preference to illegal immigrants but completely ignoring woes of legal immigrants?

@pleasantdreams6216. Yes I agree with you on that as well. Most of these partners I speak of are in that exact situation you describe. Most people against these measures aren’t aware of the fact that the government gives the undocumented a number with which they are allowed to pay taxes but have no access to any other benefits. It’s a mess.

What about domestic partnerships? There are so many FAMILIES with children in which parents have not gotten married. They should be recognized in this law as well. Imagine having plans to marry next year and being denied this opportunity because of this deadline of June 17, 2024. So sad. But it’s supposed to keep “families” together.

I have DACA, and I am also married to an American citizen (blue-eyed and red-haired, lol), yet I am still not fully legal. And my background is perfect.oh and by the way i oay taxes , i work with kids, i am a good citizen and i lovd Jesús. Yep sometimes life is just not fair

Uh… no? It says if you happened to be brought to the US as a child and have married a US Citizen and shown good character for around 10 years you can finally work legally. What difference does it make if a US citizen goes to another country and marries them over there? They still skip the people who have been waiting since 2004
