"A lion does not concern themselves with the opinions of sheep" -Ajani Goldmane, probably If you want 10 power you deserve to get 10 power. Don't sweat mana cost or efficiency or whatever. It's not like you actually have to draw or pay an appropriate cost for your cards...let Naya decks worry about optimization. Mimeoplasm is about sticking two dumb things together and hitting your opponent upside the head with it.

"A-B-D. A- Always B- Be D- Dredging" -Jarad, certified graveyard abuser I've had my Mimeoplasm deck since he premiered in the precon, and I agree with many of your cuts and adds. I didn't see an old or new deck list link anywhere, so if any of my advice is redundant then feel free to ignore it. 0. If you can get your hands on a Survival of the Fittest, it is the best card in the deck 1. Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord is a premium win condition since he hits all opponents. Lord of Extinction is an easy kill, and Consuming Aberration and friends will likely kill as well. 2. For the above reason, and also if you're playing things like Mike+Trike, multiple reanimation is excellent. Incarnation Technique is gas. Victimize will be easy to turn on if you run Field of the Dead or the Nerds' mana dorks. 3. Milling your opponents is to be avoided, but some cards are so efficient I recommend running anyway. Mesmeric Orb is fantastic, and while it draws hate sometimes you just jam it turn 2 and by turn 5 you have a plethora of Mimeoplasm targets. I run Basalt Monolith beside it for the occasional arbitrarily large self mill kill with Syr Konrad. 4. World Shaper and/or Splendid Reclamation are your friends. 5. I've found Ghostly Pilferer to be an excellent discard outlet for Dredge cards 6. I'm trying out Criminal Past as a means to facilitate one shots. The advantage being you don't need to have a big creature in your graveyard when you animate your Mimeoplasm 7. I have Araumi in the deck as a means to get 3 more shots from value creatures like Stitcher's Supplier or Druid of Purification. It's a bit jank but when it works it's fun! Plus, Necrotic Ooze likes another activated ability. Here's the full list for inspiration. C+C always welcome, it's by no means perfect and some choices are experimental but backed by experience. The good thing about filling your grave is that you see about 3-4 times as many cards as your opponents per game so you have a lot more freedom to just try stuff out. Have fun with it! www.moxfield.com/decks/tFN738JwyEiDRbHHmZ095g

Also been playing Mimeoplasm since release. It has essentially become a multiple turbo combo to the face deck. Most wins are via fast Hermit Druid+Oracle/Lab Man. I also have Devourer/Trisk and Necrotic Ooze for that combo kill, I have some haymakers, my favorites being Jin Gitaxias for dredge synergy+ shut down the opponents and Diluvian primordial for the sheer game ending potential it always seems to have. I think my favorite pet card is Sage of Hours. A huge Lord of Extinction allows you to take 10+ turns, which usually leads to finding one of the other combos. I think it’s well positioned to be higher or lower power level since most of the combos are fairly compact and the tutors and fast mana are easy enough to add and remove as needed without completely gutting the deck. Love how versatile the deck can be. It’s really got a ton of ways to build it and none of them seem to be wrong. Nice list, I see some similarities to my own, but you have some very interesting choices in there!
@lysander32622 жыл бұрын
I haven't pulled the trigger on picking up a Sage of Hours or any other of the +1/+1 dependant cards like Sage...of Fathoms 😄. I'm sure they are fantastic but the Commander dependancy has me cautious. Would definitely be more confident running them alongside maximum looting outlets and cards like Command Beacon.

Love to have seen this, I was looking for good combos for my Mimeoplasm to make it even scarier. Right now, cards I am also looking at are Golgari Grave Troll, Fauna Shaman, and Primal Surge. My favorite 2 cards to mimeoplasm are Skytherix and putrefax base with a huge butt being the p\t , basically can make him a cruise missile to take out any annoying opponent who is dominating the game. If you have all party agreement to protect it through your attack it is a really effective mix

Serendipitous timing on this one! I've re sleeved my Mimeoplasm deck that I had since it came in the precon and aside from the obvious updates I was wondering what to put to make it better suited for modern EDH.

I'd definitely consider Hermit Druid. Kederekt Leviathan is also a huge blowout, especially when you can do it repeatedly via Necromancy or Animate Dead. I turned my old Mimeoplasm into CEDH Tasigur a long time ago, but it was a super fun deck.
@lysander32622 жыл бұрын
The thing about Hermit Druid is that even when played fairly with a large amount of basic lands...he gets you a land per turn!!! Honestly feel like he's great at every power level, even if he draws hate even faster than Dauthi Voidwalker 😄
@V3TJasper2 жыл бұрын
@@lysander3262 Yeah I ran 7 basics in my Mimeoplasm and Hermit Druid still felt very strong even without build around infinites. The Nerds' updated list runs 3 basics so the piles would be even larger. Hermit Druid does die without activation pretty often though; maybe people concerned with consistency shouldn't play it. I personally think the gamble is so worth.

I'm always torn on creature ramp even in creature based decks. A board wipe always comes down early as soon as everyone is dropping commanders, then you're out mana right when you need it to recast your commander. I see the logic, i do, but it still has a clear downside that I feel outweighs the minor upsides. Selvala not withstanding.
@Eifuh2 жыл бұрын
The way I see it, the upside of creature ramp is higher than the downside when a board wipe comes around. Llanowar Elves has a lot more synergy with what a green creature based deck wants to do and when it draws you a card off beast whisperer or comes back with something like living death, it’s just that little bit more oil in the cogs of your deck than if it was Nature’s Lore. No problem if you disagree of course, but myself and most people think otherwise for the reasons above
@lysander32622 жыл бұрын
Hard agree. Unless there are a ton of specific cards that care about # of creatures in YOUR graveyard and/or Birthing Pod/Natural Order effects I would always take the 2 mana sorcery trifecta over the 1 mana elf trifecta. Minor consideration to casting a 1 CMC creature with Muldrotha, but she also lets you cast Wild Growth and that doesn't take up the one creature cast per turn. Selvala is of course always an exception. I also run BoP because it actually fixes mana unlike Elves, and occasionally blocks big dumb Flying guys.
@gregprice48342 жыл бұрын
I like creature based ramp that gets land into play and only like 2-4 mana dorks, spring bloom Druid, wood elves, far haven elf and stuff like that feel a bit safer

Quick question. If I deal combat damage to a player with a clone of my commander does that count toward commander damage? Example. If I have toxrill and 2 copies of toxrill on the battlefield and swing all three at one player and connect. Are they dead to commander damage?

nope, commander damage is especifically attached to the commander card itself (can't be copied to another permanent)

Apocalypse demon is a second lord of extinction in self mill decks. It is even better in my opinion, because like Beezy said you don't want to mill your oponents. I also think Old-sticky Fingers is better than the new goyf, more versatile, can mill more and still be a huge creature for two mana or to copy with Mimeoplasm. Even splinterfright (having trample) or the original Lurghoyf or mortivore (counting creatures in all graveyards) have better upsides than Urborg Lurghoyf
@catit65992 жыл бұрын
Think old stickfingers could be good especially if your already playing urborg llurgorf
@lysander32622 жыл бұрын
A double kicked Urborg Lhurgoyf should get ~2-3 relevant cards in a 45 creature deck with some non creature Flashback/Dredge/Encore/etc. For the same cost Stickfingers gets a guaranteed 2 cards. I'd say he's worth trying out as a means to quickly re-establish reanimation targets after a graveyard exile. Not as good early in the game where you are happier to flip over as much as possible. Most importantly if you think he's a cool card, play it. You see so many cards in Mimeoplasm that individual optimization doesn't matter all that much. Cheers.

I don't know about a no reserved list restriction as there are plenty of reserve list cards that are just plain bad and or generic monsters such as Autumn Willow which is a 6 drop green legendary avatar creature 4/4 that reads "Shroud Green: Until end of turn, Autumn Willow can be the target of spells and abilities controlled by target player as though it didn't have shroud." Yeah there is no way anyone could tell me that is not bad you pay to remove shroud for 1 person though it is not as bad as others as you can target yourself with the ability but it is essentially just hexproof with a tax of 1 Though Wood Elemental is one of the more funny terrible cards on the reserved list that costs about $30 USD just because it is on the reserved list even though it is a bad card. And before you say Elfball can abuse it well Elfball can abuse anything as it's nature is ramp and to have a ton of mana dorks where you are not worried on giving all of your forests to Wood Elemental for power toughness.
