But that sucks Level 253 push down is mandatory, so I don't even know how that's going to work.

In case you want some information on what tetris players are actually looking at, it's not really "peeking" at the next box. You're basically always looking at the top of your stack. During line clears, you have time to look at other useful information (like score and lines), but in general, you almost always want to be entirely focused on the shape of the top of your stack. From my experience, it took about a month or so of practice to "read" the next box. You basically just learn to subconciously see what the next piece is in your peripheral vision, and furthermore, you learn to completely subconciously determine good placements for your next piece. So while you are placing a piece (i.e. doing the movements on the controller), without even realising it, you are figuring out where the piece in the next box is going to be placed. So long story short, you never "look" at the next box; you just see it in your peripheral vision while looking at the top of your stack, and you know what the piece is and where it should go subconciously. The more concious thing that can happen is adjustments. In these cases, when your current piece was in the next box, you likely subconciously determined that there were a few good placements for it - some of these are better or worse depending on what piece you got afterwards. So now, while you are placing it, you can use the next box to adjust your placement to the best one you had thought of given this next piece. The helpful this is that this basically comes with a free placement for the next piece, because you've already worked that out from deciding to do the adjustment. It's also worth noting that doing spins especially is quite distracting from working out what to do with the next piece, because it requires such precise timing during the time that you are otherwise working out the next placement (especially on level 29 speeds). This is probably one of the most impressive things to do, because it requires not only seeing the spin within 1/3 of a second and getting a frame perfect input, but also at the same time as preparing for and doing the spin you need to work out what to do with the next piece.

Massive congrats to Scuti. What an incredible accomplishment, and I can't imagine the pressure of those final two levels. The way I see it, the ultimate goal is (now) the level rollover at 256. It may seem impossibly far away now with the minefield of crashes, but then again, so did so many of the milestones in this video once upon a time. I firmly believe that one day it will be done.

This is the explanation i wanted to see why Scuti's game crashed so soon because i knew final crash usually happens somewhere after level 235. And the explanation is that he played vanilla game without any modifications and the game mechanics simply couldnt handle the math anymore and decided to quit it even though after missing the earliest possible point to do so it was unknown when it will happen again (only that it was certain it will if you do the exact steps necessary to crash the game at the nearest available moment which if you miss again you just need to continue playing). Great video!

I am blown away by how far players has gotten to in this 40 year old game. I think the best direction to go for record holders is to reach what would be called _The Rebirth_ by using the original game on the original hardware, that being the NES. Much like arcades and consoles from the 1980s, they use an 8-bit system to assign these values with the max integer value being 255. It makes a lot of sense why Pac-Man has the infamous Level 255 crash where half of the screen is eaten. However, on the original Tetris, it also has a Level 255... but unlike Pac-Man, it can be beatened and what happens after that is that it resets and loops back to Level 1 which is what would be called _The Rebirth_ and I think that will be the *ULTIMATE* achievement for Tetris records. The Glitch Colours still continues up to Level 255, but the changes and the different ways that the game can crash gets a LOT more interesting and a lot more tricky to dodge. But once you reach Level 255, that is where the final challenge pops up. 5 of the 7 tetronimo pieces could cause a Game Crash if not done in the proper way AND *ALL* of the teronimo pieces are *completely coloured red* . Will _The Rebirth_ record be possible in Tetris? With the quick advancements in people finding ways to beat the system with the new techniques and the new discoveries about how Tetris works and what causes the Game Crashes, I think reaching Level 255 and beaten it to force the game to reset is DEFINITELY possible. Blue Scuti looks quite young when he became the first to Crash The Game. So whoever can beat Level 255 and cause _The Rebirth_ is definitely going to leave a MOMUMENTAL mark on the Tetris History Books or practically ANY Gaming Record History Books. I am surprised that the Guiness World Records didn't caught on to this. The only obstacle is that Levels 155 to 255 are going to get SO gradually difficult to the point that it is like walking on a mine field... a VERY Glitchy mine field.

I can relate to him. Back in Year 5, after 6 attempts, I finally scored 10 out of 10 in my spelling test in school. The longest/hardest word being "Supermarket". Well done to him.

Damn the evolution of this game over the years is crazy, from Neubauer's (RIP) contribution into making it a competitive sport to this 13 yr old with a glove that's mastered the NES control, it's been a great ride.

To me, the most intriguing path for expert Tetris players to take. Is to take the game as far as they can. By helping the vanilla game not crash. Before the game worked to beat players, Blue Scuti then beat the game. Now the player & game should team up to take the game to new heights. Great video!👍
