Being a film school graduate in sound dept, I have experienced this thing first hand. The wage disparity is in peaks in the industry. It is prevalent everywhere from small scale ad shoots till large scale productions. A real-life example is where one of my friend did AD for an ad where they shot 3 ads in a day. He was paid 5K while the model were paid in lakhs, literally. More shit scenes for sound guys. Sound being half of your cinema going experience, sound dept is the most overlooked one. Dark truth of the industry, no one gives a f*ck about your skills, its all about making connections. Another thing, actors are also just one of the employees for a film. Till people get over with the celebrity worship-culture, this shit scene will continue.

In 2024, we've only watched one movie, "Fighter," because it was a mass entertainer with a my favourite HRITHIK ROSHAN. In contrast, in the first half of 2023 alone, we watched three movies. This trend suggests that people are not frequenting theaters as much; they tend to go when ticket prices decrease. Furthermore, it would be beneficial if movie stars reduced their fees based on their last box office performance to make ticket prices more affordable. And definitely even an entry level writer should have get atleast 40 to 50 lakhs if he/she is potential writer

Producers should start making clauses in the contract for high-priced actors and actresses that if their movie flopped or did not do business to a certain point, they would have to pay back 10-20 % of their fees. Jab actors are asking for so much that they should be blamed or questioned for their poor performance in making a flop film. They should be accused of charging this amount, restricting producers from giving the proper fees to other movie departments.

Bro you always do excellent assessment of such topics, Can you Try an analogy on Hollywood and Bollywood movies production as an extension to this topic ? It is an interesting topic because it also shows the way unnecessary charges affect the production of movies and how ambitious and WELL Produced movies flop . Like how Hollywood overcomes budget issues by "creativity" and they somehow come up with a completely new and efficient ideas while researching for alternatives. Brahmastra, Kalki ,Jajantaram Mamantaram ,Barfi, Puli(somehow it's vfx stands out compared to movies 5-7yrs older than it ) are somewhat an ambitious movies which some gained success because of their effort in production while some failed .

The only movie I kept thinking about throughout this video essay was Laapata Ladies. This movie was truly a gem. It had artistic elements, depth and a lesson. The actors did a fantastic job.
